That does not exist. The Blessed One said: Great King, what do you think? If someone is attached to and very ignorant of the ghost seen in a dream, is that person of a wise nature? He replied: Blessed One, no. Why is that? Blessed One, the ghost in the dream does not exist and is not visible, how could there be great ignorance? Otherwise, the person who is attached to that ghost will become poor and have a troubled fate. Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, ordinary people who do not have learning, if they see forms with their eyes, they will also become attached to those who become indifferent. After being attached, they will become very ignorant. After being very ignorant, they will be completely afflicted. After being completely afflicted, the actions arising from ignorance, the body performs three kinds, the speech performs four kinds, and the mind performs three kinds, manifestly accumulating, and so on, as before. Great King, for example, if a person in a sleeping dream hears the beautiful singing of a village woman and the beautiful sound of playing the lute, and dreams that he fully enjoys the sound of that singing and music. After waking up from sleep, he remembers the sound of that singing and music. Great King, what do you think? Do the village woman and the sound of singing and music seen in the dream exist? He replied: Blessed One, that does not exist. The Blessed One said: Great King, then, is the person who is attached to the sound of singing and music of the village woman seen in the dream of a wise nature? He replied: Blessed One, no. Why is that? The village woman seen in the dream does not exist and is not visible, how could there be her singing and music? Otherwise, the person who is attached to that singing and music will become poor and have a troubled fate. The Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, ordinary people who do not have learning, if they hear sounds with their ears, they will also become attached to those pleasant sounds.

So-called "truth" and so on are as before. Similarly, smells and so on should also be understood as threefold. Similarly, combining them, how do you, Great King, think I can become the eye, lamp, candle, light, boat, doubt, dock, guide, complete guide, teacher, navigator, and forerunner of the world with the gods? After I am liberated, I will liberate others. After crossing over, I will help others cross over. After the breath is calm, I will help others have a calm breath. After completely liberating from Nirvana, I will help others completely liberate from Nirvana. Great King, look at that power, the end of what has been experienced before cannot be seen. Great King, in this way, the senses are like illusions, they do not know satisfaction and will not feel satisfied. The realms are like dreams, they cannot be satisfied and cannot be satiated. So it is said. Regarding the story of the wheel-turning king of boundless fame, he fell from the heavenly realm. At that time, the great king and the city dwellers surrounded him, and this voice arose: For example, a lump of butter, or a lump of fresh butter, placed on hot sand, will melt and not stay. Similarly, the Great King of Boundless Fame also sank and could not stay. Then, the Great King Joyful said to the Great King of Boundless Fame who had sunk in this way: What are the good words spoken by the Great King of Boundless Fame? What will the ministers prophesy to the people of the world? He said: The Great King of Boundless Fame once ruled the royal power of the four great continents, his wishes were fulfilled, and he also experienced meaningless things. All the trees once bore fruit at will out of season, all harm was cut off, all beings' thoughts were meaningful, rain of perfume fell, rain of the gods' wish-fulfilling clothes fell, rain of earth fell, rain of gold fell, rain of various jewels fell, and rain of all utensils also fell.

Continent Dwelling in the four great continents, possessing the dominion of the four great continents, without relinquishing the desire to occupy half of Indra's seat with great desire, having met the time of death while desires were not yet satisfied, Great King, you should declare thus. Therefore, Great King, your senses are like illusions, and lands are like dreams. Having recognized this, one should firmly establish the mind and not rely on others. Great King, for example, the nature of a mirage is that it has not arisen, will not arise, and does not exist now. Similarly, the nature of form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness has not arisen, will not arise, and does not exist now, and so on. Furthermore, it is said in that very text: Thus, the Tathagata comprehends both the conventional truth and the ultimate truth, and what is to be known is exhausted in these truths of conventional and ultimate truth. The Bhagavan, having well seen, well known, and well manifested emptiness, is therefore called the All-Knowing One. Among them, the conventional truth is the worldly conduct seen by the Tathagata. The ultimate truth is that which is inexpressible, unknowable, unrecognizable, unperceivable, unshown, not well shown, unheard, unlearned, unknown, undiscerned, unindicated, unseen, unestablished, ungraspable, uncomprehended, unattained, unobtained, unapproached, unabandoned, unplaced, unrenounced, inaction, uncreated, unpacified, unblamed, unpraised, unimpeded, not unimpeded, not happiness, not suffering, not pleasant, not unpleasant, not form, not formless, and so on. To whom do beings go for happiness in death, Faith arises for the sake of happiness, the Victorious One, for the benefit of beings, For the benefit of the world, teaches the conventional truth. The six realms of sentient beings that are taught, The sentient hell-beings, animals, hungry ghosts, Asuras, humans, and gods, The Lion among men establishes the conventional.
