will become a person with an extremely poor and weary fate. The Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, those ignorant ordinary people who have not heard the teachings, when they see forms with their eyes, will become attached to those things that make them feel happy. Because of attachment, they will develop craving; after developing craving, they will become completely attached. After becoming completely attached, the body, which arises from desire, will perform three kinds of actions, speech will perform four kinds of actions, and mind will perform three kinds of actions. The karma that is performed is exhausted, ceases, separates, and changes from the very beginning. It does not depend on the east to exist, nor does it depend on the south, west, north, above, below, and all directions to exist. It is not here, not there, not in between, but at other times, when the time and moment of death are near. The life force ceases, the lifespan is completely exhausted, and the karmas similar to this fate are also exhausted. When the last consciousness ceases, it becomes an object of thought, like a beautiful woman waking up from sleep. Great King, for him, under the power of the last consciousness and the manifestation of karma, and the effect of these two causes, the first consciousness belonging to birth will arise. Or he will be born among hell beings, or he will be born in the place of animals, or he will be born in the world of Yama, or he will be born in the ranks of Asuras, or he will be born among humans, or he will be born among gods. This belongs to the category of the first consciousness arising. Immediately after it ceases, without interruption, the stream of manifest consciousness that can experience the ripening result will appear with a similar fate. Among them, whichever is the cessation of the last consciousness, that will be called the transference of death. Whichever is the arising of the first consciousness, that will be called birth. Great King, if this is the case, then no dharma is transferred from this world to another world, but the transference of death and birth are evident. Great King, the last consciousness, when it is born, does not come from anywhere; when it ceases, it does not go anywhere. Karma, when it is born, does not come from anywhere

At the time of cessation, one does not go anywhere. At the time of the first arising of consciousness, one does not come from anywhere, and at the time of cessation, one does not go anywhere. Why is that? Because it is empty of inherent existence. The last consciousness is empty of the last consciousness, karma is empty of karma, the first consciousness is empty of the first consciousness, dying and transference is empty of dying and transference, birth is empty of birth. Actions do not become without results, and the experience of ripening is manifest, but in that, other than mere designation, there is no agent or experiencer. Great King, for example, a person dreams of fighting with an enemy in a dream while sleeping, and after waking up from sleep, remembers that. Great King, what do you think? Does that enemy dreamed of in the dream, or the fighting with that enemy, exist? He replied: Blessed One, it does not exist. The Buddha said: Great King, what do you think? Then, is a person who is attached to the enemy in the dream, or who fights with the enemy, of the nature of wisdom? He replied: Blessed One, no. Why is that? Blessed One, the enemy seen in the dream itself does not exist and cannot be pointed out, let alone fighting with him? Otherwise, the person who is attached to that enemy will become poor and exhausted. The Blessed One said: Great King, similarly, ignorant ordinary people, who are not endowed with learning, when the eye sees forms, will also become attached to those unpleasant things, and after being attached, they will become angry. After becoming angry, they will hate. After hating, the actions arising from hatred, the body performs three kinds, the speech performs four kinds, and the mind performs three kinds, as before. Great King, for example, a person dreams of being oppressed by a ghost in a dream while sleeping, and becomes very confused with fear. After waking up from sleep, he remembers being oppressed by a ghost and being very confused. Great King, what do you think? Does that ghost seen in the dream and the state of being very confused exist? He replied: Blessed One,
