One should make the aspiration, and with such a mind, if one has not attained omniscience, then one does not remain in the intermediate state, nor does one interrupt the continuum, this is called the five uninterrupted states of the son of the gods. Therefore, one should constantly and continuously practice giving, guarding, purifying, and increasing one's body, possessions, and merit, as appropriate. Among these, first, for the sake of giving, by meditating on the faults of clinging, generate detachment, and also meditate on the benefits of giving. As it is said in the "Moon Lamp Sutra": This decaying body, life is also unsteady, like a dream and illusion, foolish children are attached to this, creating extremely evil deeds, controlled by sin, the unwise are ridden by the Lord of Death, those hateful ones will fall into the hell of the mind. As it is said. Similarly, in the "Dharani for Accomplishing Infinite Doors" it is also said: Whatever sentient beings engage in disputes, the root of that is clinging, therefore abandon what is clung to, abandoning clinging becomes dharani. As it is said. In the "Pratimoksha of the Bodhisattva" it is also said: Shariputra, furthermore, a bodhisattva generates the thought of otherness towards all phenomena, and does not take anything. Why is that? Taking is fear. As it is said. In the "Fierce One's Question Sutra" it is also said: Whatever is given is not to be guarded again. Whatever is kept in the house is to be guarded. Whatever is given will exhaust existence. Whatever is kept in the house will increase existence. Whatever is given is non-clinging. Whatever is kept in the house is with clinging. Whatever is given is without fear. Whatever is kept in the house is with fear. Whatever is given shows the path near to enlightenment. Whatever is kept in the house shows the side near to Mara. Whatever is given is inexhaustible. Whatever is kept in the house will be exhausted. Whatever is given is happiness. Whatever is kept in the house is suffering because everything must be guarded. Whatever is given will abandon afflictions. Whatever is kept in the house will increase afflictions.

It is so. Whatever is given becomes a great enjoyment. Whatever is kept at home does not become a great enjoyment. Whatever is given is the work of a noble person. Whatever is kept at home is the work of a noble person. Whatever is given is praised by all the Buddhas. Whatever is kept at home is praised by childish beings. From then on, if he cherishes his son more than other sentient beings, then he should rebuke his own mind with three rebukes. What are the three? Bodhi is equanimity of mind, I am a Bodhisattva, not one who is not equanimous. Bodhi is a Bodhisattva who is rightly joined, not one who is wrongly joined. Bodhi is a Bodhisattva who acts without distinction, not one who acts with distinction. Having rebuked his own mind with these three rebukes, he should generate a perception of unattractiveness towards that son. This is unattractive, if I am dear to my heart, then for his sake I cherish that son more than other sentient beings, which would contradict the teachings spoken by the Buddha. Therefore, I have also harmed the root of virtue, and even life will be harmed without caution, so this is harming me. Therefore, I am acting on a path that is not in accordance with the path of Bodhi, this is like opposing myself. He should generate these three thoughts. Taking that son as a cause, just as he is filled with affection for that son, he should generate love for all sentient beings. Just as he cherishes himself, he should generate love. He should generate that mind in that way. It is also like this, this also came from elsewhere, and I also came from elsewhere, but all sentient beings were once my sons, and I was once the son of all sentient beings. He should not think that there is any sentient being here that is mine, another's, or anyone's. He should contemplate properly. Householder, a Bodhisattva should not completely grasp or be attached to anything, thinking that it is mine. Deceit and craving

One should not be lazy. Householder, if a student comes to a Bodhisattva householder and asks for something, if he does not give the thing, he should think like this: Whether this thing is given or not, I will eventually be separated from this thing, and I may even die unwillingly, and this thing will abandon me. I will also abandon this thing. Give up this thing, be happy in your heart, take its essence, and do the things of the time of death. If this is not completely abandoned, my mind will not be completely focused at the time of death, because this will cause me to have joy, great joy, satisfaction, and no regret at the time of death. You should think about it firmly. Even if you think so, if you still cannot give up this thing, then he should inform the requester in three ways that make people understand: I am still weak and my roots of virtue have not fully matured. I am a beginner in the Mahayana, and I am controlled by the mind of not giving up. I have the view of near-taking, and I am dwelling in self-grasping and what is mine. Holy man, please forgive me and please don't be completely annoyed. I will do my best to fulfill the wishes of you and all sentient beings. I will accomplish it like this, and I will work hard like this. Householder, the Bodhisattva householder should inform the requester in these three ways that make people understand. The Blessed One said that informing the requester in a way that makes people understand is only to avoid the fault of the Bodhisattva not trusting him, or not trusting the requester to the Bodhisattva, but it is not to say that stinginess is not a fault. The Blessed One rebukes the Bodhisattvas. As it is said in the Pratimoksha Sutra of Bodhisattvas: Shariputra, these four dharmas are not possessed by Bodhisattvas. What are the four? Bodhisattvas have no deceit. Bodhisattvas have no stinginess. Bodhisattvas have no jealousy or alienation. Bodhisattvas do not claim to have attained enlightenment to unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment.
