From. Each sentient being becomes a king ruling Jambudvipa, and all of them say this: We who uphold the Mahayana, hold, read, and fully understand it, let five ounces be cut from their flesh every day with fingernails. In that way, let their lives be taken away. Manjushri, if that Bodhisattva is not afraid, not alarmed, and not terrified by saying that, he does not even generate a single thought of fear, without discouragement, without satisfaction, without doubt, and strives to seek the Dharma outwardly, strives to read and recite, that Bodhisattva is, Manjushri, the Bodhisattva is a hero of generosity, a hero of morality, a hero of patience, a hero of diligence, a hero of meditation, a hero of wisdom, a hero of samadhi. Manjushri, if the Bodhisattva does not get angry with those who kill him and does not generate contempt and hatred, Manjushri, that Bodhisattva is like Brahma, like Indra, and is immovable. As it is said. From this, it can also be seen that in this present time, respecting learning and the maturation of karma is very great. The Moon Lamp Sutra says: In billions of kalpas, in countless billions of Buddhas, with umbrellas, banners, garlands of lamps, food and drink, with faith and offerings, if at the time when the true Dharma is destroyed, when the Sugata's teachings decline, holding one precept for one day and one night, this merit is superior to the former. As it is said, therefore, one should respect learning. The Blessed One has taught the basis of the Bodhisattva's learning in the sutras, and the Noble Jewel Cloud Sutra says: Son of good family, how are Bodhisattvas restrained by the vows of the Bodhisattva's learning? Here, the Bodhisattva thinks like this, I cannot realize the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment by relying solely on the Pratimoksha vows, but the Tathagata, in the sutras, and in them, the conduct of the Bodhisattva and the Bodhisattva's

It is like the extensive saying, "I should learn about whatever has been established as the place of learning," and so on. Because it is said so extensively, it is difficult for someone as dull-witted as me to understand the vows of a Bodhisattva. So, how does one have the seed of Bodhi in that case? What are the ways to avoid falling? One should understand the key points here. What are those key points? They are like this: My body and possessions, and all the virtues accumulated in the three times, are given to all sentient beings, and protecting, purifying, and increasing them. This is a concise summary of the Bodhisattva vows. Regarding this, Bodhisattvas will fall if they slacken in their practice, as stated in the Pratimoksha Sutra of the Bodhisattvas: For the sake of all sentient beings, a Bodhisattva has taken the path of transforming into suffering. Holding and abiding in this, even after countless eons, if even a single thought of desiring happiness arises, then the Bodhisattva should generate this thought: My abiding in this way is harmful to all sentient beings. In the Sutra of Complete Purification of Discipline, it is also said: Manjushri said: Son of the gods, with which uninterrupted (actions) does a Bodhisattva quickly realize the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment? These are the uninterrupted (actions): What are the five? Son of the gods, when a Bodhisattva, with superior intention, generates the mind for unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment, and in between does not generate the mind for the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, son of the gods, this is the first uninterrupted (action). Generating the mind to completely give away all possessions, and in between not dwelling with a mind of miserliness, this is, son of the gods, the second uninterrupted (action). Generating the mind, 'I shall protect all sentient beings,' and in between not becoming discouraged, this is, son of the gods, the third uninterrupted (action). Generating the mind, 'One should understand that all phenomena are unborn and unceasing,' and in between not falling into contemplation, this is, son of the gods, the fourth uninterrupted (action). Realizing all phenomena with the wisdom that possesses a single instant.
