I shall become knowledgeable. Or, since consciousness itself is form, then mind will also become unknowing. Or, just as there are many diverse objects, so too will mind become many and diverse. Or, mind will also become something with form. Or, form will also become invisible like mind. In one way, if the mind without an object itself appears as an object, then whatever is thought about the appearance of form and color, and whatever is desired, will completely become that object and appear. In another way, if form is broken down into particles, and even the smallest particles are broken down into parts, just as they do not exist, so too will mind cease to exist. Therefore, mind itself cannot appear as an object, and thus, objects and subjects and all discriminations are like dreams. If it is said that from beginningless time, the habit of clinging to form has matured, and thus appearances such as form arise, that is also unreasonable, because objects do not exist from the beginning, so their habits cannot exist either. The Noble Ten Bhumi Sutra states, "The three realms are only mind." The Noble Lankavatara Sutra also states, "External objects do not exist; one's own mind appears externally." The reason for teaching mind-only is to refute the view that things are truly existent, and to benefit sentient beings to be trained. Therefore, just as form and so on are false, so too, mind is not separate from them, and is therefore also false. Since form and so on are diverse appearances, not the nature of one and many, similarly, mind is not separate from them, and is therefore not the nature of one and many. Therefore, mind is only the nature of dependent arising and illusion. Just as mind is, so too should all phenomena be regarded as the nature of dependent arising and illusion. Therefore, when the nature of all phenomena is separately examined with prajnaparamita, in ultimate truth, all phenomena, whether past, future, or present, are unattainable. The Noble Cloud of Jewels Sutra also states.
