Why and for whom are the three vehicles taught? It is to tame those with inferior intentions. If in the Great Vehicle, after countless eons, or with vast accumulations of merit and wisdom, as stated by the noble Maitreya, if many aspects of the Great Vehicle are shown, then those with inferior intentions will become frightened. The teacher also said, "Those with an unsuitable nature of abandonment will fall into the Avici hell." To abandon such faults, like a king showing, conveying a message to the undying Blue Lotus Queen, skillfully guiding them gradually closer to the state of Buddhahood, to avoid the fault of not entering if shown all at once as before. That skillful means is said to be not causing fear. If not causing fear in this way, what fault do those with inferior intentions have? It is said, "Appearing in the age of the five degenerations." It is because they are stained by the degeneration of views, etc. It is also said, "Believing in inferiority, the nature is also extremely inferior, surrounded by inferior friends." Therefore, believing is said to be abandoning, etc. Having thus established the root scripture, now establishing the one who knows that scripture, it is said, "Also in the Sutra of the Noble Garland of Virtue." Saying 'complete extinction' refers to the extinction of the Hearers, etc. Saying 'means' is like manifesting in a solitary place, etc. Saying 'entering the count' means entering within. Saying 'its goodness' means having understood it. Similarly, it is also said in the Lankavatara Sutra. Habitual tendencies are actions that are in accordance with afflictions, like the example of an Arhat jumping. Samadhi means abiding. Without outflows means desire, existence, ignorance, and views, because they have been abandoned. Saying 'worldly' means, in general, also because it depends on the death and transmigration that transforms the lower realm into the inconceivable. Saying 'transcendental' refers to the collection of wisdom of emptiness that possesses all kinds of excellence. Perfected means accomplished. Also, saying 'also' is like the foolish son of a king, whatever was done before, what will be done later. As shown before.

If someone thinks that only the three vehicles are the definitive meaning, then, the definitive meaning, as previously stated, is ultimately one vehicle. And the meaning of expedient means is multiple vehicles, even more than three, just like saying "although it is so." "Although it is so" means that, in terms of the definitive meaning, there is actually only one vehicle. As for targeting beings of different capacities, there are multiple vehicles, such as "the collection of practicing different virtuous deeds," and so on. Virtuous deeds refer to the ultimate Nirvana. Collection is the meaning of cause. It itself is practice, referring to cultivation. The power of taming lies in the disciple's capacity. Multiple vehicles refer to the path beyond the world. The door is the way to enter. Different refers to branches and so on. The Dharma taught is what will appear below. What are these? Such as "placing in the Hearer's ground" and so on. These also negate the establishment of the three vehicles, that is, from the perspective of the path of treating truth, the path of dependent origination, the path of Samadhi, the path of diligence, the path of wisdom, the path of faculty, the path of power, the path of liberation, the path of supernormal knowledge, the path of immeasurability, the path of Samadhi, the path of completely purifying the object, the path of completely purifying intention, the path of immeasurable effort, the path of different effort, the path of different fruit, the path of differentiating fruit, it is said "placing in the Hearer's ground" and so on. Because it arises from the truths of suffering and so on, it is a Hearer, because the Dharma wheel is turned in twelve ways by three rotations to obtain the fruit. Starting from the collection ground of the three roots, etc., because of one's own ignorance, actions and so on arise, and practicing reversal, one's own enlightenment is manifested, so it is the path of dependent origination. In the path of the Great Vehicle and so on, because of practicing mindfulness, right abandonment, and the feet of miraculous power, it is wisdom, diligence, and Samadhi. Among them, the feet of miraculous power are:
