It is like generating "Ma" before "Ga." Samsara is the nature of the five aggregates, because it is the continuation of suffering. The river is carrying, referring to the dharmas of cause and effect. Liberation is like the Buddha who perfectly completes his activities. Therefore, the tenth bhumi bodhisattva is called the Buddha. Because of knowing all aspects, he is called the all-knowing one. Because of knowing the conventional, he is called wisdom. The continent refers to the complete cessation of the suffering of samsara. The jewel is because it is similar to what was said before, so the metaphor refers to activities, some say. Some think it is an example of all qualities. Therefore, from the stage of accumulation to the ultimate stage, the arising of all qualities should be understood to arise from the power of complete possession. Here it is briefly shown, and the details should be understood from the Avatamsaka Sutra. Regarding the explanation of the meaning of the benefits of complete possession, it should be understood that it is what Acharya Asanga said in the Ornament of the Sutras. From the stage of faith practice to the ultimate stage, the complete combination of the dharmas of qualities should be understood from the Bodhisattva-bhumi of Arya Asanga. The detailed explanation from the first bhumi to the ultimate bhumi should be understood from the Ten Bhumi Sutra. Here it is said that in the sutras, the appearance of the Buddha is difficult to encounter, etc., and many things are said, and even in one sutra, the benefits of generating bodhicitta are illustrated by metaphors, etc., and many things appear. In some sutras, the benefits of generating bodhicitta are explained, and the limited number of summaries, what is the intention that needs to be explained? Some say that this represents a part. Some say that combining multiple sutras into one to explain is all, while the merits of generating bodhicitta, etc., represent a part. Some say that because of necessity, multiple meanings are combined into one to explain, and the ones that represent a part all have the word "etc.", how should we understand their appearance? Many things are said in the sutras, but few are listed, these are the ones that become the cause of achieving the benefit of the person. Therefore, for the ideas of partial speculation, reason should be applied.

There is no argument whatsoever. Here, contemplating fear from a mundane perspective, averting opposition and harm is also the same. Similarly, regarding metaphors, one should also know how to use them appropriately, as I have heard from the lineage of masters. Therefore, to advise on completely embracing and respecting with beneficial means, (the master) said: One should rely on it by continuously keeping it in mind. Keeping it in mind refers to the aspect of qualities. How to rely on it? From the aspect of purity, like "a mind like the earth" and so on. Bearing refers to the meaning of vows. Entrusting refers to accomplishing accordingly. Not being weary refers to not being discouraged. Not turning back refers to not following those blessed by demons and demonic hordes. Suffering refers to being exhausted by ordinary affairs. Not being moved refers to being unable to be shaken. How to please refers to how to make them happy. Not being angry refers to self-restraint out of respect. In what way? Just as it was said before, a respectful mind refers to generating the thought that "I should generate faith" and so on. Why be respectful only to the virtuous friend? Because when thinking "why," the answer is: because it is the root of all qualities, so it is to show the benefits. Like "son of the lineage" and so on. The snowy mountain is the place of various medicines, just as these medicines are able to fully grow, the virtuous friend is also the place where all qualities arise, so growing upwards is complete growth. Just as the great ocean can hold all the water, the virtuous friend is also shown to be a vessel of qualities, so it is said to become a vessel. Thus, after showing the difference between obtaining qualities not yet obtained, and the qualities already obtained not declining and increasing, summarizing these points, it is said "in short." Obtaining refers to getting. Dharma refers to strength and so on. Complete accomplishment is non-decline. Verbal refers to instructions. Arising refers to arising from having practice. This is to show the benefit of restoring qualities after they have declined, so it is said "Light Protector." A wooden plank refers to a fragment of a boat, or a corpse, and so on. Shore refers to the edge. Applying this metaphor, it means "similarly."
