In short, here, all paths are taken as the main point. Thus, to understand the four truths is to avoid wrong practices. Thus, after generally explaining the practices of householders, now we will separately explain the practices of those who have attained the state of mastery. In order to show the correct practice therein, it is said, "Even if one has attained the state of mastery." Wrong practices refer to the non-virtues and so on that will appear below. Correct practices refer to the eightfold path and so on. To show this, it is said, "The Dharma king who strives to protect beings," and so on. Beings are those who belong to him. Protecting means to protect with the Dharma. The so-called Dharma king refers to all actions that are in accordance with the Dharma. Some call him the Dharma king because: Whether he is patient or not, the king is happy to know. Even if his behavior does not conform to the Dharma and reason, most people will praise him because they depend on him. They say that this is like giving false praise to the fierce Rab Snang. But that is not the case, because the naked truth-speaker is not a flatterer of false praise. Because this very sutra directly refutes, "Great king, you are fierce, you are wrathful." Moreover, the word of happiness, even if guided by the previous connective word, is inappropriate. The mention of "eight" is because it summarizes the essence of the branches, and in detail, because the distinction of types is infinite. What is that? It is dependent on others and dependent on oneself. What depends on others is of three types: acting on the suffering of beings, abiding in happiness, and subsequent association. Acting on suffering is of two types: engaging in the cause and directly acting on suffering. Engaging in the cause of suffering is of two types: negligence and wrong practice. Among them, in terms of negligence, for those who belong to him, it is called the perception of a son. In terms of wrong practice, it is called the perception of a sick person. In terms of directly acting on suffering, it is called the perception of compassion. In terms of abiding in happiness

It is called the perception of joy. There are two kinds of subsequent connections: subsequent connection through animosity and subsequent connection through friendship. Among them, from the perspective of subsequent connection through animosity, it is called the perception of seeing faults in its basis. From the perspective of subsequent connection through friendship, it is called the perception of subsequent protection. There are two aspects in relation to oneself: from the perspective of enjoyment and from the perspective of self. Among them, from the perspective of enjoyment, it is called the perception of medicine. From the perspective of self, it is called the perception of no-self. Having shown the distinctions in this way, to show the clear distinctions, such as "Great King," etc. The term "Great King" is a word of happiness and joy. Retinue refers to those who have become a retinue. Unruly refers to those who have become a retinue but are unrestrained. Unrestraint is of two kinds: engaging in evil and not knowing how to make a living. Subduing has four methods: advising and instructing, binding and restraining, scolding in the assembly, and banishing. Banishment is of two kinds: temporary and permanent. Not abandoning the thought of compassion means protecting oneself from afflictions at all times and in all places. The perception of a sick person is as it is said: 'Constantly controlled by faults, without self-mastery, wise people should not be angry with sentient beings, involuntarily they will also create evils, therefore, increase compassion for those beings.' It is for the sake of increasing compassion for sentient beings. It is like this saying. Not being angry is cultivating loving-kindness. Abandoning regret is striving to abandon faults. Suffering means experiencing suffering appropriately in each of the eighty kinds of suffering. Compassion is the desire to eliminate suffering. Eliminating harm is the compassion for them. Accomplishing benefit is loving-kindness. Abiding in happiness has three aspects: inferior, equal, and superior. Among them, in relation to inferior and equal persons, it is not generating greed. In relation to superior persons, it is without jealousy. Unfriendliness is subsequent connection through animosity. The basis refers to the mind. Friendliness is harmony itself. Steadfastness is immovability. Therefore, one should abandon the mind of hatred and attachment.

Aye, these two are spoken of as equanimity. Thus, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, these four immeasurables, are taught as a means of accomplishing the benefit of others. Why? Because if one possesses harmful thoughts and so forth, one will completely abandon sentient beings. Enjoyment is of two kinds: that which relies on the body and that which relies on enjoyment. Among these, with regard to that which relies on the body, it is called not engaging in sexual misconduct, which is being content with one's own wife. With regard to that which relies on enjoyment, it is said to enjoy without attachment, attachment being clinging. Therefore, the noble one himself said: "With wisdom, regard food as medicine, rely on it without attachment or hatred, not for the sake of fatness or pride, nor for the sake of delight or increased strength, but solely for the sake of maintaining the body." With regard to oneself, it is to rely on a superior person, to listen to the sacred Dharma, and to properly apply the mind. Among these, with regard to relying on a superior person, it is said to go near. With regard to listening to the sacred Dharma, it is said to strive for the sake of the Dharma. With regard to properly applying the mind, it is said to practice the Dharma that is in accordance, Dharma being Nirvana. The Dharma that is in accordance is that which is in accordance with liberation. Some say that Dharma is the path of seeing, and that which is in accordance with it is the path of cultivation. Among these, abandoning sexual misconduct out of desire is the cause of a perfect body. Enjoying enjoyment without attachment is the cause of perfect enjoyment, and these two are the means of attaining the heavenly realms. Relying on a superior person and so forth is the cause of liberation. Thus, the heavenly realms and liberation are for one's own benefit. Thus, there is nothing else to be accomplished other than one's own benefit and the benefit of others, and since the means for these are also taught by these, it is said to be eight. Then, if one asks what happiness is to be taught, engaging in beneficial actions and so forth will naturally bring happiness, so there is no need to teach it separately, because it is said to abide in those eight perceptions. Teaching from the opposite perspective is because one does not possess Dharma.
