The so-called "twenty excellences" are for being skilled in observing them. What are those twenty? It is said to be "Yoga practice." Yoga is the samadhi of calm abiding and insight. Practice is of two kinds: the samadhi practice of mentally engaging, and the practice of experiential cultivation. In terms of meaning, here it refers to the practice of mentally engaging. The term "demon" refers to that which obstructs the arising of qualities. Here, it refers to the supreme vehicle. The term "truly excellent" means that it is the supreme activity of the demon. If someone objects, saying, "Are the activities of the demon immeasurable? How can the number be determined?" The response should be, "What are they?" Indeed, there is no fault in summarizing the excellences here. This is a connecting phrase, "For example." So, the twenty aspects are as follows: From the perspective of complete clinging, relying on inferior spiritual friends means wanting liberation, and so on. Fearing samsara are the Hearers and Solitary Realizers' vehicles. In the beginning, middle, and end, combine with the three, such as antidotes. The root of the supreme vehicle is the virtuous friend, so being separated from that is called the demon that obstructs it. Thus, if one is separated from complete clinging, one is separated from accomplishing the supreme fruit. If wisdom is not grasped by skillful means, there are two situations: being separated from the skillful means of benefiting others means discriminating from emptiness and abandoning sentient beings, because one strives to abandon one's own afflictions. Being separated from the skillful means of benefiting oneself means discriminating the unconditioned and being completely weary of the conditioned, thus one will not perfect the accumulations. Thus, because wisdom is not grasped by skillful means, one wrongly enters the cause of uncontaminated wisdom, which is cultivating meditation and seeking reversal. Because the cause of uncontaminated wisdom is samadhi, cultivating meditation is the thought of wanting one's own peace, and so on. Reversal is the samadhi that possesses all excellent aspects. Being separated from true samadhi, in terms of the individual, becomes inferior intention, and in terms of the Dharma, becomes inferior application.

O. In this regard, with respect to individuals, there are two types of inferior intention: In general, being separated from compassion is called generating great compassion. In particular, being separated from love is called anger. With respect to the Dharma, there are two types of inferior application: in terms of explanation and in terms of practice. Among these, there are two types in terms of explanation: associating with those of inferior wisdom, such as teaching the words of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, etc., because they only teach selflessness. Associating with those of perverted wisdom is concealing profound words, etc., profound being emptiness, etc. Various kinds of words are gambling words, etc. There are five types in terms of practice: not striving in application, striving in the decline of application, striving in incompatible training, striving in separation from application, and striving in bad application. There are two types of not striving in application: not striving to practice one's own path, such as even knowing the path, etc., the path being the six perfections. Not striving to lead others to the path, such as even praising the praise of extreme diligence, etc., not applying means not leading. There are two types of striving in the decline of application: not practicing one's own conduct, such as the roots of virtue, etc., the mind of enlightenment is the cause of going on the path of the Great Vehicle. Not applying others to one's own conduct, such as even abiding in possessing the yoga of higher vision, the Bodhisattva is cherishing others. Striving in incompatible training is seeking to exhaust all defilements, etc., because intention and application are incompatible. There are two types of striving in separation from application: the means of accomplishing the benefit of others being separated from compassion, such as discriminating with wisdom, etc. The application of accomplishing one's own benefit being separated from all means is not possessing means, etc., meaning being separated from skillful means. There are two types of striving in bad application: what should be strived for
