Moreover, it is said below that bodhisattvas who travel like riding a goat cart and those who travel like riding an elephant cart are degenerated. Also, whatever kind of sound it may be, and the scriptures use dirt and disputes as metaphors, it is for this reason. Then, why are lay practitioners etc. mentioned? Because it shows the medium faults, so for the bodhisattvas of the realm, it is a very serious fault, and for the lower ones, it is also for abandoning, so there is no fault. Among them, the roots of virtue of sentient beings are the white dharmas such as abandoning killing. Not relying on other teachers is because of taking refuge in the Three Jewels. The root of virtue is the cause of achieving humans and gods. A bhikshu is one who has received full ordination through petition and four karmas. The root of virtue is dedicated to the cause of nirvana. Following with faith means entering by trusting others. Following the Dharma means making one's own wisdom the main thing. The eighth is the eighth in number. Stream-enterer means attaining the path of seeing. Once-returner means that only one birth remains in the desire realm. Non-returner means that the birth in the desire realm has been exhausted. Arhat means that even the objects to be abandoned of the peak of existence have been abandoned. Solitary Buddha means attaining the fruit through the realization of dependent origination itself. Traveling like riding a goat cart and traveling like riding an elephant cart refer to the instability of ordinary beings. Traveling like the moon and the sun refers to the stability of ordinary beings. Traveling like the miraculous powers of shravakas refers to the period from the first bhumi to the seventh bhumi. Traveling like the miraculous powers of the Tathagata refers to being included in the Vipaka bhumi. Thus, from showing ordinary beings onwards, the first immeasurable kalpa is in terms of speed. The stability from the first bhumi to the seventh bhumi is in terms of certainty and stability. The period from the eighth bhumi to the tenth bhumi is in terms of being very slow, therefore, it should be known as three immeasurable kalpas. If it is said to be fast, is there a possibility of being very fast? No, it is not. For example, the Tathagata Star King Tathagata.

Shakyamuni Buddha abided by the ascetic practice of birds. Even praising with a single verse could exhaust many kalpas, but countless kalpas cannot be exhausted by anyone. What is meant by "individual ordinary beings"? Some say it refers to that which is in accordance with the decisive aspect. Some believe it starts from the assembly. Some believe it is counted after obtaining forbearance, but here it is considered from the very first arising of the sign-mind, otherwise, all the grounds of practice based on faith, as stated by the noble Asanga, would be unstable. A kalpa is considered to be a great kalpa. The term "countless" is considered to refer to reaching sixty places of numbers. Why is it called "countless"? Because in the following, the names of the distinctions of numbers are explained in the Abhidharma, numbers are: single and group. Among them, single numbers are: one, ten, hundred, thousand, ten thousand, hundred thousand, million, ten million, hundred million, these are nine places. The places of groups are three: trillion, quadrillion, quintillion, sextillion, septillion, octillion, nonillion, decillion, undecillion, these nine, plus nine large ones, are the first group. End-appearance, cause-awareness, light-adornment, power, good-giving, understanding-going, majestic-attitude, horse-nourishment, strength-wheel, these nine, like the previous ones, plus nine large ones, are the second group. Sign-knowing, manifestation, strength-eye, these three, like the previous ones, plus three large ones, are the third group. Thus, there are nine single numbers and three places of groups, totaling forty-two numbers, which add up to fifty-one, as it appears in the Abhidharma. The remaining eight numbers do not appear in the scriptures, but if eight are added to the place of groups, fifty-nine are named as names of numbers, and the sixtieth is spoken of from such names, so it is called "countless," as explained by Master Vasubandhu. Among them, for those who follow with faith, etc., the roots of virtue are considered to be the respective fruits that have not yet been obtained. For Arhats, it refers to focusing on others.
