It is called "because of arising." For those without dharma-nature, dharma-nature is unreasonable, so it is said "because there is not," meaning that for those who do not exist, liberation and bondage are unreasonable. If asked, how does this not contradict the previously mentioned dependent arising? The answer is that others say this applies to "no self-nature," and so on. Some say that whatever exists has special dharmas, and for what does not exist, because there is no difference, it is unreasonable, for example, for caste, sentient beings also do not exist, which refers to the previously mentioned dependent arising, which does not contradict the rationality of causes and conditions. If asked, then, because of attachment to birth, etc., what about it? The answer is to supplement "in ultimate truth," that is, "there is not," and so on. Although there is no birth, etc., in ultimate truth, how does it exist in conventional truth? What is shown is the meaning of dependent arising. Therefore, those who possess wisdom do not add anything to what does not exist, nor do they slander what exists, this is what the Bhagavan said. Because knowable things appear as contradictory meanings, if observed with reason, only appearing as non-existence in deluded consciousness, so appearing as non-existence is "the meaning of non-existence." Because appearing as non-existence is delusion, it is not considered real, this is "the wise," like understanding the characteristics of a magician. Therefore, "what arises dependently is not born of its own nature," thus it is reasonable. If asked, what benefit is there in such realization? The answer is that the benefit is that one does not discriminate against anything, this is what is said. If asked, what are the examples of those past events? The answer is, for example, seeing what does not exist as existing is wrong view. How does this show? The answer is that the method of attaining Nirvana is to cultivate emptiness embraced by skillful means, and the noble ones go there, so it is called the path. If asked, through what is such a path realized? The answer is, it is through the nature of conduct, which is the nature of wisdom that is shown. Again, in that same sutra, it is said that the essence, function, and benefit should also be understood. Among them, the essence of wisdom is complete discrimination, how to discriminate? It is to make it clear, to make it understand what has not been seen. Therefore, for the previously asked question

What is the path like? Is it said that differentiation, even for the Dharma, is difference? "Not doing, not doing even for one," it is said, meaning that from the ultimate truth, realizing the one taste of all dharmas, therefore not making differences. From the various aspects of the conventional truth, not making one, for this, difference is clinging to reality. One is denying non-existence, for whom, knowing that there are not these two, is realizing the unchanging and non-inverted nature of the perfectly established reality. Then, what is wisdom itself like? "A term without true differentiation," it is said, like fire produced by rubbing two pieces of wood together, burning the wood itself, if one examines it through practice, then even the practice itself cannot be ascertained, this is the nature of differentiating dharmas. Showing its function is "relying on differentiation," it is said, how one clings, so it shows all the afflictions. Not clinging to self and what belongs to self, it is said to be pure. For this, any affliction, purity, unchanging, the Bodhisattva realizes this Prajnaparamita, showing the abandonment of clinging to differences. Then, establishing all afflictions and purity is contradictory, why is that? Thinking like this. The answer is, not clinging to the established wisdom is the nature of Dharma, answering with the ultimate truth is saying not following what is visible. Dharma is all afflictions and so on. Change is the action itself, bondage and liberation are linked together. Measuring the benefits with wisdom is "relying on differentiation, son of the lineage" and so on, saying like this, realizing samsara and nirvana as equal, saying like this, is saying to obtain the liberation of the exhaustion of all differentiations. From the perspective of what is to be taken, "for any Dharma" it is said. From the perspective of the taker, "by what" it is said. This is also from the perspective of equal abiding, "clinging also" it is said. Then, what realm does such wisdom measure? Showing its object is "what is the basis of the disease," it is said, disease is another name for affliction. The basis is the place where it arises. The so-called special object is the name of clinging to what is not as existent, special is addition.
