From the very beginning, it is said that the completely pure nature, endowed with the thirty-two marks, exists within the bodies of all sentient beings. Oh, Blessed One, just as a precious jewel of great value is completely wrapped in a cloth stained with dirt, so too is it completely wrapped in the cloths of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, oppressed by desire, hatred, and ignorance, and defiled by the dirt of complete conceptualization. If it is said to be permanent, stable, and enduring, then, Oh, Blessed One, how is this speaking of the Tathagatagarbha different from the speaking of the self by the non-Buddhists? Oh, Blessed One, the non-Buddhists also teach that the self is permanent, the agent, without qualities, pervasive, and fearless. The Blessed One said: Mahamati, my teaching of the Tathagatagarbha is not the same as the speaking of the self by the non-Buddhists. Mahamati, the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the Samyaksambuddhas, having taught the Tathagatagarbha in terms of the meaning of words such as emptiness, the ultimate limit, nirvana, unborn, without characteristics, and without aspirations, and for the sake of abandoning the state where children become frightened by selflessness, teach the door of the Tathagatagarbha, thereby showing the state of non-conceptualization, the sphere of activity without appearance. Therefore, Mahamati, the Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas who will appear in the future and in the present should not be attached to the self. Mahamati, for example, a potter, from a single lump of clay dust, with hands, skill, a wheel, water, string, and diligence, makes various kinds of vessels. Mahamati, in the same way, the Tathagatas, too, having completely reversed all the characteristics of conceptualization of the selflessness of dharmas, with suchness, wisdom, and skillful means, whether teaching the Tathagatagarbha or teaching selflessness, like a potter, teach with various kinds of names of words and letters. Therefore, Mahamati, the teaching of the Tathagatagarbha is not

It is different from teaching about the self. Mahamati, the Tathagatas teach the Tathagatagarbha in order to correct those who are attached to the views of the Tirthikas who teach about the self, therefore they teach the Tathagatagarbha. How can those who have wrong views and fall into the false view of self, if they have the intention of abiding in the realm of the three liberations, quickly attain the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment? Mahamati, therefore, the Tathagatas, Arhats, and perfectly enlightened Buddhas teach the Tathagatagarbha for that purpose. Therefore, this is not the same as the Tirthikas teaching about the self. Mahamati, therefore, in order to dispel the views of the Tirthikas, one should follow the non-self principle of the Tathagatagarbha. For example, teaching that all dharmas are emptiness, unborn, transcendence of duality, and without self-nature, this is the unsurpassed ultimate conclusion of the Bodhisattvas. Holding this profound Dharma is equivalent to holding all the Mahayana sutras. Therefore, this profound Dharma is contained within all the sutras, so it is said. The Blessed One also said in the Lankavatara Sutra: Mahamati, the characteristics of emptiness, unborn, transcendence of duality, and without self-nature are contained within all the Buddha's sutras. It is also said in the verses of the Moon Lamp Sutra: The world realm is empty and pure, Whatever sutras I have taught, Although the words and phrases are different, The meaning is the same, It is not possible to express everything. If one can practice one sentence, That is practicing everything, All the Buddhas, Have extensively taught immeasurable dharmas, All dharmas are emptiness, If the wise can learn, This sentence is not difficult, The Buddha's Dharma is not difficult to obtain. So it is said. Believing in the profound Dharma is accumulating all merits, until the attainment of Buddhahood, whether worldly or transmundane.

All perfections will be accomplished. It comes from the Sutra Given by the Boy. Manjushri, because of lacking skill in means, practicing the six perfections for hundreds of thousands of kalpas is less than the merit accumulated by someone who listens to this Dharma with doubt. What need to mention listening without doubt? Moreover, what need to mention writing the words and then transmitting them, upholding them, and extensively explaining them to others? The Diamond Sutra also says: The Blessed One taught: Subhuti, what do you think? How many sands are there in the Ganges River? If there were as many Ganges Rivers as there are sands, would those sands be many? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, the number of Ganges Rivers is already many, what need to mention those sands? The Blessed One taught: Subhuti, I tell you, you should understand. If there are as many sands as there are Ganges Rivers, and there are as many worlds as there are sands, and someone fills these worlds with the seven precious jewels and gives them as charity to the Tathagata, would that man or woman accumulate more merit than that? Subhuti replied: Blessed One, much, Sugata, much. The Blessed One taught: If someone from this Dharma, even if only holding a four-line verse, and explaining it to others, then the merit they obtain will be even greater. The Brahma's Request Sutra also says: The Tathagata said: Friends, a son or daughter of good family, if desiring merit, similarly, if desiring to obtain wealth, beauty, enjoyment, servants, power of Dharma, and the perfections of gods and humans, should listen to, believe in, and uphold this Dharma. In the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, Shariputra asked: Blessed One, after hearing this Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, will beings with faith tend towards Bodhi? Maitreya asked: Blessed One, after hearing this Perfection of Wisdom Sutra,
