Great sufferings, Tirtha, rising incense, snow mountains, and other black mountains that are not snow mountains, the three thousand great thousand worlds with all things, the vast earth with eighty-four thousand yojanas in breadth and sixty thousand yojanas in width, but when the great king, the steadfast one, appears, he will not come from anywhere. Great king, when this world is about to be destroyed, there will be a time when this great earth will be burned by fire, or destroyed by water, or destroyed by wind. If it is burned by fire, no smoke will appear, and no residue of ashes will appear. For example, if you burn butter or sesame oil in the sky, no smoke will appear, and no residue of ashes will appear. Likewise, when the three thousand great thousand worlds are burned by fire, no smoke will appear, and no residue of ashes will appear. When it is destroyed by water, no residue will appear, for example, when salt dissolves in water, not even a tiny residue will appear. Likewise, when the three thousand great thousand worlds are destroyed by water, not even a tiny residue will appear. When it is destroyed by wind, not even a tiny residue will appear, for example, a bird blown away by the scattering wind, not even a tiny residue will appear. Likewise, when the three thousand great thousand worlds are destroyed by wind, not even a tiny residue will appear, Great King, thus the arising of that earth realm is also empty, and the destruction and arising of the earth realm are also empty in nature. Likewise, the inner earth realm, and the remaining inner and outer realms, and all dharmas, when they arise, do not come from anywhere, and when they cease, they do not go anywhere, their arising is also empty, and what is born is also empty in nature, so it is said. It is also said in the chapter of Ajatashatru: Then, King Ajatashatru, in his own house, after those Bodhisattvas and great Shravakas washed their bowls and hands,

Then, rising from his seat, for the sake of hearing the Dharma, he sat before Manjushri, the Youthful One, and said to Manjushri: "Manjushri, please dispel my remorse and distress." Manjushri said: "Great King, your remorse, even if Buddhas, Bhagavat, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, were to try, they could not dispel it." Then, King Ajatashatru, finding no refuge, fell to the ground like a tree cut at its roots. Then, the Venerable Mahakashyapa said to King Ajatashatru: "Great King, Manjushri, the Youthful One, is skilled in speaking in accordance with worldly conventions. Great King, you should ask him, 'What is the meaning of this?'" Then, King Ajatashatru rose again and said to Manjushri, the Youthful One: "Manjushri, with what intention did you speak thus?" Manjushri said: "Great King, what do you think? Do the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, differentiate by means of the mind?" The King said: "Manjushri, no." Manjushri said: "Then, do they differentiate by means of generating the mind?" The King said: "No." Manjushri said: "Then, do they differentiate by means of the cessation of the mind?" The King said: "No." Manjushri said: "Then, do they differentiate by means of compounded things?" The King said: "No." Manjushri said: "Do the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, differentiate by means of the consciousness of compounded things?" The King said: "No." Manjushri said: "Great King, what do you think? Can that which is not differentiated by any Dharma dispel any Dharma?" The King said: "It cannot." Manjushri said: "Great King, considering this, I said that even Buddhas, the Bhagavat, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, could not dispel your remorse." Furthermore, Great King, if someone wants to fill the sky with dust or wants to defile the sky with darkness, Great King, what do you think? Can they defile the sky?" The King said: "Manjushri, they cannot." Manjushri said: "Great King, if someone says, 'I will purify the sky,' can they purify the sky?"

Is it? Manjushri said it is not possible. Manjushri said: Great King, thus, the Tathagatas have no pervasive afflictions regarding all dharmas, and they understand them in their hearts like the sky. They do not perceive any dharma that should be eliminated as a pervasive affliction, or anything that is purified. Great King, having seen this meaning, your regret cannot be dispelled even by Buddhas, Bhagavat, as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. Thus he spoke. Furthermore, Great King, those Buddhas, Bhagavat, do not perceive any mind that arises pervasively from within. Nor do they perceive any dharmas that arise pervasively from without. Why is that? Great King, all dharmas are by nature without pervasive arising. What is nature is without pervasive arising. What arises pervasively has no place and no opportunity. Why is that? Great King, all dharmas are empty in essence. Great King, all dharmas are without inherent existence because they are not completely established. Great King, all dharmas are without mixture, so they are not completely established. Great King, all dharmas are without arising, so they are without mixture. Great King, all dharmas are without substance, so they are without arising. Great King, all dharmas are without function, so they are without substance. Great King, all dharmas are material, so they are without function. Great King, all dharmas are not of the nature of consciousness, so they are material. Great King, all dharmas do not move by nature, so they are not consciousness. Great King, all dharmas return from going, so they do not move. Great King, all dharmas are of an unchanging nature, so they do not go. Great King, all dharmas are without birth, so they are of an unchanging nature. Great King, all dharmas are without increase, so they are without birth. Great King, all dharmas are naturally luminous, so they are without connection. Great King, all dharmas are pure, so they are naturally luminous. Great King, all dharmas are like without cover, so they are pure. Great King,
