Asked: Desired qualities have no sorrow or harm. Always fearful, constantly hostile, with afflictions. Like the edge of a sword, like the leaves of a poisonous tree. Like a vessel of vomit, abandoned by noble beings. Desired qualities are fearful and afflicted. Constantly remembered, they become darkness. Constantly causing fear, with suffering. They increase the vines of existence and becoming. Just as a fire burns, the center is fearful. Thus, the noble beings know this desire. Like a great swamp, like a sword's execution ground. Like honey smeared on the edge of a sword. Like the head of a snake and a vessel of vomit. Thus, the wise know this desire. Like maggots in bird meat, like a bright tree. Like a dog eating carrion, it is with enemies. These desired qualities are like the moon in water. Like an image, like an echo. Like a mirage, like watching a dance. Like a dream, the noble beings know. Desired qualities are momentary and unreliable. Like illusion and mirage, false and untrue. Like bubbles and foam, not truly existent. The wise understand that they arise from complete analysis. Thus it is said. In the Moon Lamp Sutra it is also said: Quickly attain samadhi without afflictions. This is the benefit of pure morality. Thus it is said. In the Mother of the Conquerors (Prajnaparamita Sutra) it is said that those sentient beings, for the sake of benefit, practice the perfection of meditation, and their minds are not distracted. Why is that? Thus, they think: If with a distracted mind, it is difficult even to generate worldly meditation, what to say of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Therefore, I shall not let my mind be distracted until I attain unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Thus they think. In the Ten Grounds Sutra it is said: The meditation of a Bodhisattva is of two types: worldly meditation and transcendental meditation. What are the two? For the sake of abandoning one's own heavy burden, one cultivates meditation with objects. Wishing to cut off all one's own afflictions, this is not the characteristic of a truly wise person. For the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, one cultivates meditation and abandons the heavy burden, eliminating all afflictions. This is tru

Ga, the characteristic of the wise. Meditating on the non-abiding samadhi, Cutting off all desires and existences, That is called great wisdom. Thus it is said. From the Nirvana Sutra: Good son, all sentient beings are deluded by the four perversions of permanence, happiness, self, and purity. Because of thinking, they see impermanence, suffering, non-self, and impurity. Therefore, the four perversions are also cut off. Therefore, due to thinking, one will approach great Nirvana. Thinking about the characteristics of birth, the characteristics of aging, etc., can also lead to liberation. Good son, without thinking about virtuous dharmas, others cannot obtain them. Why is that? Whoever listens to the Dharma for countless, immeasurable, and boundless kalpas, if they do not think about it, they will never attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Thus it is said. Again, in the same text, it says: How does a Bodhisattva practice according to the Dharma? Good son, whoever abandons all non-virtuous dharmas and diligently engages in all virtuous dharmas is called practicing according to the Dharma. All dharmas are empty and without object, which means seeing impermanence, suffering, non-self, and impurity. Because of seeing in this way, even in the face of body and life, one is not afraid to uphold the vows of discipline. This is called a Bodhisattva practicing according to the Dharma. Thus it is said. Wisdom is a passage from the Nirvana Sutra. Manjushri Kumara asked: World Honored One, what is the meaning of conventional truth and ultimate truth? Does ultimate truth contain conventional truth? Does conventional truth contain ultimate truth? If it exists, then it becomes one truth. If it does not exist, then the words spoken by the Tathagata will not be false, will they? The Buddha replied: Good son, conventional truth itself is ultimate truth. World Honored One, if that is the case, then there are two truths. The World Honored One replied: Good son, because of being very skillful in means, two truths are spoken for the benefit of sentient beings. Good son, in terms of speech, there are two types: worldly dharma and transcen
