Now, for the excellent Bodhicitta, there is nothing ultimate. The great lineage from which Buddhas arise, its example cannot be found even if one searches throughout the three realms. Whatever the Buddhas of the three times have accumulated, for that excellent Bodhicitta, make prayers with all aspirations. The excellent Bodhicitta is a treasure of merit, through which one attains the stainless Buddhahood. Thus it is said. Also, as it is said in that same text, for example, a prince, all should not doubt, if he possesses the title of king, then his lineage is noble, and his duties as a minister are all different. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who is a beginner, even if overcome by karma and afflictions, if he possesses the title of generating the mind of omniscience, then by the Buddha's lineage being noble and great, he is not the same as the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and the most excellent ones. Thus it is said. By familiarizing oneself with the special refuge, the mind of Bodhi arises, therefore, in the Mother of the Victorious Ones Sutra, it is also said: If one has gone for refuge to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and intends to achieve Buddhahood by focusing on omniscience, the wise should know to abide in discipline and the Paramitas. Thus it appears. In the Dharani of the Noble Vajrapani, the Great Mount Meru's Summit Pavilion, it is also said: Until I sit at the essence of Bodhi, I go for refuge to the Buddha, I go for refuge to the Dharma, I go for refuge to the Sangha. For the sake of all sentient beings, may I generate the mind of Bodhi to become like a father, like a mother, like a sibling, like a relative, like a blood relative. From today onwards, may I become the father, mother, sibling, relative, and blood relative of all sentient beings. Thus it appears. The precepts of taking refuge are: In the Sutra Requested by Dewa, it is said: You have practiced austerities in the past for hundreds of kalpas, you are pleased with gathering, taming, and giving, your body, speech, and mind are completely pure, I prostrate to the teacher of the three realms and the world. In the Garland of the Goddess of Fortune, Lion's Roar, it is said: You, with thoughtful abilities, have eliminated the faults of body, speech, and mind, have attained a faultless state, I prostrate to you, the Dharma King.
