Generating the mind and, generating the mind by looking at the gods of others and, generating the mind by seeing the body of the Thus-Gone One. The first three are said to be the actual mind of enlightenment. It is also stated in the Sutra of the Ten Dharmas of the Noble One: Generating the mind by being urged by the Buddha and Bodhisattvas, etc., generating the mind by seeing the benefits of the mind of enlightenment, generating the mind by seeing sentient beings suffering, and generating the mind by seeing the perfection of the Buddha and Bodhisattvas. In the Ornament of the Sutras, five conditions are mentioned: the power of friends, the power of causes, the power of roots, the power of hearing, and the power of habituation to virtue. It is said that instability and stability arise. The Noble Asanga said that there are four conditions and four powers. The four conditions are: generating the mind by seeing the perfection of the Thus-Gone One, generating the mind by seeing the benefits, generating the mind at the time when the holy Dharma is destroyed, and generating the mind by seeing sentient beings suffering. The four powers are: the power of causes, the power of application, the power of oneself, and the power of others. Thus, when causes and conditions come together, the mind of enlightenment will arise. The nature of what is born is: desire, longing, and aspiration are synonyms. As the Noble Maitreya said: "The generation of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment." The mental consciousness that is in accordance with desire and compassion, focusing on a special object, is the nature, like a good field that produces all the seeds of white Dharma, the mind of enlightenment like the earth of desire. The aspect is the distinction or division of that very thing, which is not defiled by any faults such as deceit and is without impurity, like good gold without faults such as rust, stones, and earth. That mind itself is like good thought, like gold. The meaning of this is explained in detail in the Sutra Taught by the Noble Inexhaustible Intelligence: Venerable Sharadvati's son, what kind of aspect is the mind of enlightenment born with? He said: Son of good family, that mind

It is said that just as ghee that has not been mixed with a small amount of impurities will naturally appear in a pure state, (the Buddha) elaborated on this in detail. The method of practice is to (recognize that) the mind initially does not come from anywhere, ultimately does not go anywhere, does not abide anywhere, has no color, has no shape, originally has not arisen, ultimately will not cease, its nature is emptiness, and to repeatedly remember the nature of luminosity. Alternatively, through familiarizing oneself with loving-kindness and compassion, the mind of enlightenment, making it stable, and making it extremely pure, for each moment of the mind, one must continuously remember, and one must abide in mindfulness, awareness, proper attention, and diligence. The method of guarding the mind of enlightenment is to not abandon the four types of sentient beings, to contemplate the eight aspects of noble beings, to be skilled in the ten inner means, to be skilled in the six outer means, to exchange self and others, to equalize self and others, the noble conduct, and the ten great dedications like the Vajra Banner, etc. Among these, not abandoning sentient beings means not abandoning sentient beings who are beneficial to oneself, not abandoning sentient beings who are harmful to oneself, not abandoning sentient beings who are actually suffering, not abandoning sentient beings who are the cause of suffering, and generally not abandoning all sentient beings. Among these, not abandoning sentient beings who are beneficial to oneself means not abandoning them with a mind of gratitude and repaying kindness. As the teacher Nagarjuna said: From beginningless samsara, burned by the fire of afflictions, all sentient beings who are in the prison of existence, were once parents, relatives, and roots, they gave us great help, so we should repay their kindness. I have made them suffer, now it is right to make them happy. Therefore, to understand the meaning in detail, please refer to the sutra section. For the parents, relatives, friends, etc. of this life who are beneficial to oneself, we must be grateful and repay their kindness, if not, we will commit the fault of "not repaying kindness received." Not abandoning sentient beings who are harmful to oneself means not abandoning them with the mind that karma is one's own. As it is said: The excellent person of Jambudvipa, responds to good with good, and to evil
