Having abandoned the remnants of lust, not being born as a woman, having sharp faculties, not being separated from the Three Jewels, and also being delighted in samadhi there, becoming manifest complete enlightenment, this is the second quality. If one is extremely accustomed, one will be blessed with longevity, and in this very life, one will go to the realm of the gods. Thinking from this very meaning, the venerable Moon, for the sake of his own disciples, adorned it with a bright moon wheel, the waist belt was entwined with precious clouds, the top of the mountain forest had no rain, the nature of swaying like the wind was long-lived, relied upon by the herds of deer wandering in the forest's edge, what happiness is there in a place where everything is beautiful? In that delightful forest goddess's posture, will there also be a stone slab with steps? In the quiet place of the forest's deep, clear riverbank, what happiness is there? Is that comparable to the heavenly maiden's fragrant ointment, decorating her hair with garlands, constantly wearing various beautiful flowers, will there even be that in the heavenly river? The wide mountain peak has no noisy crowds, it is very comfortable, the vast environment of enjoyment, the surrounding forest is lined with ancient trees. The clear riverbank, the sound of the upstream water is as pleasant as the sound of a drum, as if telling the guests: 'We are not the realm of the afflicted.' Thus it is proclaimed. Master Shantideva also said: 'In the forest, deer and birds, the trees do not make unpleasant sounds, they are not annoying, it is happy to be with those, when will I be able to live with them? In a cave or an empty temple, or dwelling under a tree, when will I be able to not look back, without attachment? Without possessing any place, in the naturally wide places, freely enjoying, without attachment, when will I be able to abide? Holding simple things such as a begging bowl, wearing clothes that no one needs, even if I do not hide this body, when will I be able to live in an immortal place? Having gone to the cemetery, considering the bones of others and my body, as things that are subject to destruction, when will I be able to treat them equally?' Thus he said. Similarly, in the sutras such as the 'Noble Moon Lamp Sutra,'

The benefits of diligence should be widely understood. This is a branch that enhances through remembering qualities. Having rejoiced upon seeing the qualities, one should rejoice greatly through applying antidotal mindfulness. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: "Thus, through patience, diligence arises; in this diligence, enlightenment dwells securely, like the unmoved in the absence of wind. Without merit and diligence, enlightenment does not arise." This is how it is taught. Like this, if I do not accomplish the desired meaning through great diligence, then this life is extremely unstable, therefore do not trust it, and there is no ability to remain for long, so one should not be distracted even for a moment, one should think like this. Keeping this meaning in mind, the noble Nāgārjuna said: "This life is full of harm, struck by the wind, even less stable than a water bubble, between exhaling, inhaling, and falling asleep, what leisure tomorrow is very rare." And also: "If suddenly fire breaks out on the head or clothes, abandoning the act of averting those, one should strive diligently for the sake of future lives, this is more excellent than that, there is nothing more important." This was the advice given to King Matrakshon. The monk Chandra also said this to his disciple: "The object of a human being is very difficult to obtain, having obtained it, whatever is considered meaningful, one should strive to accomplish it. Like the flame of an oil lamp being moved by a strong wind, there is no certainty that life will remain even for a moment. 'This will be done tomorrow, this will be done in a moment, this will be done that way,' when people think like this, the Lord of Death, holding a black stick, looks askance, with red eyes, angry and dissatisfied, thinking: 'I wish it were so!' The season when the sal trees bloom will come, the autumn season symbolized by the bright moon will come, when all people are happy, my life will be exhausted, but no one will be displeased." This is how he advised. The teacher Shantideva also said: "The Lord of Death is untrustworthy, whether done or undone, he does not stay, whether sick or not sick, all people, suddenly life is unreliable." He said this. Similarly, the glorious Vagisvarakirti also said: "This will be done, tomorrow this will be done again."
