, as well as focusing on subtle characteristics, as well as focusing on bindu, as well as focusing on the branches of light rays, as well as focusing on joy and bliss. Focusing on looking outward also has two types: the special and the ordinary. Among them, the special also has two types: focusing on the body and focusing on speech. These are the limbs for entering into tranquility. How to meditate is not discussed here, because it is feared that the treatises will become very numerous, and one should rely on the oral instructions experienced by the noble lamas, because the oral instructions to be meditated upon are difficult to express in writing, and the peaceful place is said to be explained from the teachings of tranquility and insight. The fruit of tranquility is insight, and the fruit of insight is the union of tranquility and insight, that is, because nothing exists, one can particularly see the absence of things, and at that time the mind becomes one-pointed, so the many objects of focus flow extremely and abide in extreme tranquility. In this way, in the state of union of tranquility and insight, what is the object of wisdom, and how does wisdom itself exist, what is the difference between the tranquility and insight of the yogic practitioner and the union of tranquility and insight of our Madhyamaka school, etc., although my wisdom can be extremely developed, here I only want to clarify the method of practice, and I do not want to determine the ultimate conclusion of the sect, and because the noble Nagarjuna and others have already clarified it, no one can say anything more, so I have not elaborated extensively. Now I will say something else, if one has not previously cultivated tranquility with characteristics, is it possible to generate insight? This is possible, from the tranquility without characteristics, that is, from the wisdom of individual observation, the insight without characteristics, that is, the non-discriminating wisdom, will arise. Just as the venerable Kashyapa asked: Two pieces of wood rubbing against each other produce fire, and the fire that arises burns the wood in turn, similarly, after the power of wisdom arises, the wisdom that arises burns (afflictions) in turn. So it is said. The wisdom of individual observation is not tranquility, because it focuses on various ways

Oh, if that's the case, then calming down is not calming down, because it focuses on many moments and many parts. Furthermore, when entering insight from calming down, how can it not be connected by the wisdom of individual thought? Not doing that is only a few. In this regard, this sequence can also be accomplished by relying on the body alone, as the noble Nāgārjuna said: The world arises from discrimination, Discrimination arises from the mind, The mind also arises from the body, Therefore, the body should be examined. It is said. The noble Nāgārjuna also said: Consciousness without a body should be regarded as non-existent. It is said. And in the sutras it is also said: Consciousness does not depart from the body. Therefore, all dharmas are gathered into the mind, the mind is gathered into the body, and the body approaches the realm of dharma, practicing yoga, this is the oral instruction. Alternatively, one should focus on the difference between body and mind, and this oral instruction should be understood from the recollection of the Buddha. Therefore, rather than relying on calming down with characteristics, this aspect of generating insight by focusing on calming down without characteristics is praised, because its dwelling place is reliable, and calming down alone can greatly suppress and eliminate afflictions, and it is a cause that is in accordance with the result. Here, because I have written down the oral instructions from my guru, may the immaculate moonlight of increasing virtue eliminate the ignorance and darkness of beings, pacify suffering, and may the eye of wisdom obtain the extremely clear realm of suchness! May I also completely pacify distraction and other winds, eliminate ignorance, and quickly see the realm of practice together with all the Buddhas! The chapter on the collection of samādhis, written by the scholar Bodhibhadra, is completed. It was reviewed by the Indian Abbot Vīryacandra and translated, reviewed, and finalized by the Tibetan translator, the monk Dharmajnana.
