Just as one fully understands the truth of an illusion, one does not cling to the appearance of truth. Therefore, these are called yogis. Those who, like children watching a show, cling to the appearance of truth in it are called children because they cling to it in a reversed way. All these are without contradiction. As it is said in the Holy Dharma Collection: For example, a magician strives to liberate the illusion. Because he knows it from the beginning, he has no attachment to the illusion. The wise one of perfect enlightenment knows the three realms to be like an illusion. He distributes for the sake of beings, and knows from the beginning that beings are like that. Thus it is said. Therefore, one should meditate in this gradual way of meditation. If dullness and excitement, etc., arise, they should be calmed as previously shown. When one focuses on all dharmas as being without inherent existence, and is free from dullness and excitement, etc., and knows that there is no manifestation of fabrication, then the path of uniting calm abiding and insight is completed. At that time, one should meditate by abiding in the ground of practice with faith, with the power of aspiration, as long as one is able. Then, as desired, without undoing the lotus posture, stand up and think: Although these dharmas are without inherent existence in the ultimate truth, they are considered to exist in the conventional truth. As it is said in the Jewel Cloud Sutra: How is a Bodhisattva skilled in selflessness? Son of good family, the Bodhisattva, with correct wisdom, separately observes form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. When he separately observes form, he does not observe the arising of form, he does not observe the origin, he does not observe the cessation. Similarly, he does not observe the arising of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness.

Wandering everywhere in samsara and experiencing various sufferings, one should manifest great compassion and think thus: "By all means, I must attain omniscience and enable them to understand the nature of reality." Then, offer praises and make offerings to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and make great aspirations such as the "Noble Conduct" prayer. After that, one should engage in accumulating all the accumulations of merit and wisdom, such as giving, which has emptiness and compassion as its essence. As it is also stated in the Noble Sutra "Collection of the True Dharma": "The Bodhisattva who sees things as they truly are engages in great compassion for sentient beings." And thinking thus, "I shall accomplish for all sentient beings this gate of samadhi that sees all dharmas as they truly are." Urged on by that great compassion, one perfects the intention of higher discipline, higher mind, and higher wisdom, and thus manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. The union of skillful means and wisdom is the path of the Bodhisattvas. Thus, although one sees the ultimate truth, one does not abandon the conventional truth. Because one does not abandon the conventional truth, great compassion goes before, and one engages in benefiting sentient beings and so forth without any reversal. As it is also stated in the Noble Sutra "Cloud of Jewels": "How does a Bodhisattva become skilled in the Great Vehicle? Here, although a Bodhisattva studies all the trainings, he does not fixate on that training. He does not fixate on the path

It is so. It is governed by great compassion. It arises from the superior intention to benefit and bring happiness to all sentient beings. Thus, one who possesses the intention to heal should think as follows: "Whatever accomplishment there is of benefiting and bringing happiness to all sentient beings, I shall accomplish it." He should also accomplish separately contemplating the aggregates as illusory, but he does not need to completely abandon the aggregates. He should also accomplish separately contemplating the elements as poisonous snakes, but he does not need to completely abandon the elements. He should also accomplish separately contemplating the sense bases as empty villages, but he does not need to completely abandon the sense bases. He should also accomplish separately contemplating form as a bubble, but he does not abandon the perfect accomplishment of the form body of the Tathagata. He should also accomplish separately contemplating feeling as a water bubble, but he does not abandon the practice of accomplishing the bliss of the Tathagata entering into meditation and samadhi. He should also accomplish separately contemplating perception as a mirage, but he does not abandon accomplishing the wisdom of the Tathagata. He should also accomplish separately contemplating formations as a plantain tree, but he does not abandon the manifestation of the Buddha's teachings. He should also accomplish separately contemplating consciousness as an illusion, but he does not abandon the actions of body, speech, and mind that initially proceed with wisdom. Such and so on are extensively explained. Thus, one should understand that the methods and wisdom arise limitlessly from those Sutra Pitakas. However, in the state of wisdom that transcends the world, reliance on methods does not arise. But when relying on methods, the Bodhisattva, like a magician, has the wisdom that combines with the wisdom that transcends the world and arises from the combination with wisdom, and that realizes the true meaning of things as they are, because it is not inverted. That is the path of uniting skillful means and wisdom. In the teachings of the Noble Inexhaustible Intellect, the path of uniting skillful means and wisdom also arises from the time of inexhaustible samadhi, and should be understood.
