These are merely phenomena such as the aggregates. By meditating on selflessness, the Hearer enters into selflessness. By meditating on the three realms as being only consciousness, those non-Buddhists who claim consciousness only enter into the selflessness of external objects. In this way, the wisdom of non-duality also enters into selflessness, therefore selflessness itself enters into the supreme state. Merely entering into consciousness only is not true entry, as previously explained. It is also said in the chapter on the Transcendent Noble One: 'Son of the Victorious One, furthermore, the three realms are understood as mind only, and the mind is also understood as being without beginning or middle.' The characteristics of birth and destruction are the two extremes, and the characteristic of abiding is without a middle, therefore the mind is without beginning or middle. Therefore, entering into the wisdom of non-duality is true entry. How is the state of the yogis purified? It is said in the scriptures: 'Through pure aspirations.' Because of great compassion, Bodhisattvas make aspirations to benefit all sentient beings, and by the power of these aspirations, they gradually become accustomed to virtuous deeds such as giving. Therefore, this state becomes completely pure. Even though he knows that all phenomena are without inherent existence, he still perversely looks upon all sentient beings, and is not defiled by the faults of samsara, he will remain in samsara as long as it exists. If it is said to be spontaneously accomplished and peaceful, then it is said in the scriptures: 'Through the supreme wisdom of selflessness, it is seen without appearance.' Here the cause is explained. Thus, the supreme wisdom of the characteristic of non-duality, which those who claim inner knowledge consider to be supreme, is also selfless. The yogi sees through selflessness, with the wisdom of non-duality and without appearance. Thereafter, because there is nothing more to see, it is spontaneously accomplished. Because it is free from all kinds of conceptual thoughts, it is peaceful. If it is said, if that is the case, then who is the yogi who sees all this at that time? Indeed, in the ultimate truth, there is no yogi who has autonomy, including myself and what is mine. There is also no seer. Although this is the case, in the conventional truth, how does one view forms and so on?

Merely by the arising of the consciousness of an object, it is said that the consciousness of Lachen or Chöchin sees in this way, thus establishing a term, but there is nothing such as self. Similarly, here also, from the arising of the non-dual wisdom, only the consciousness without appearance arises, and it is said that the wisdom without appearance sees, thus establishing a name. All dharmas are without essence in the ultimate sense, but in the conventional sense, the consciousness of a yogi, or the consciousness of an ordinary being, is not disallowed. Thus, the noble Sutra on the Two Truths says, "Although it is utterly without substance in the ultimate sense, it is also cultivated as a path in the conventional sense," and so on. If it were not so, how would the distinctions between hearers, solitary realizers, bodhisattvas, buddhas, and ordinary beings be distinguished? Thus, whatever has no cause even in the conventional sense does not arise even in the conventional sense, like a rabbit's horn. Whatever has a cause, although it is false in the ultimate sense, only arises, like an illusion, a reflection, an echo, and so on. Although illusions and so on arise dependently in the conventional sense, they do not become truly existent in the ultimate sense because they cannot withstand examination. Therefore, it is said that all beings are only like illusions. Among them, in this way, by the power of the illusion of afflictions and karma, the birth of sentient beings arises as an illusion. Similarly, by the power of the illusion of the accumulation of merit and wisdom of yogis, the wisdom of yogis arises as an illusion. Thus, the noble Perfection of Wisdom Sutra also says, "Subhuti, in this way, all dharmas are emanations. Some are emanations of hearers, some are emanations of solitary realizers, some are emanations of bodhisattvas, some are emanations of tathagatas, some are emanations of afflictions, some are emanations of karma. Subhuti, in this way, all dharmas are like emanations." Thus it is said. The difference between yogis and ordinary beings is that they are illusionists.
