One should train in that which is not contaminated by nature. Thus it is said. The appearance related to nature is the object of focus, meaning it is not just an appearance. Therefore, considering that the main thing needed is nature, the Blessed One (Rabjor) said that the object of focus of the all-knowingness is the absence of reality. Here, the object of focus is the absence of reality, and it is considered that the master is mindfulness. It is also said to be the four aspects. Here, the absence of reality refers to all phenomena. The cause of the master is mindfulness, because that is the basis here. Peace is peace by nature, not the cessation of real things. How is nature needed? Because the absence of self-nature of the Dharma-nature of all phenomena becomes clear, through approaching and combining with the meaning of practice. If it is said that the absence of self-nature means that there is slightly no reality, and even in the absence of reality, there is no object of focus, is it not? It is true, saying that the absence of reality means that it will not focus on reality, because that is what is thought. The absence of reality is the negation of duality. The Blessed One said that duality is reality, and non-duality is the absence of reality. That is said in the Madhyamaka: Those who view self-reality, other-reality, reality and non-reality, they do not see the Thusness of the Buddha's teaching. And, clinging to reality and non-reality, it is said to be exhausted Nirvana. Ultimately, there is no object to be focused on, no subject to be focused on, and no elaboration of the object of focus. Therefore, the nature of wisdom and means, the absence of object of focus itself, has already been said to be the profound path of perfect Bodhi. The noble Maitreya also said: The path of meditation is profound, profound emptiness, etc., profound is the liberation from the extremes of imputation and denial. The noble Shantideva also said: By habituating the impression of emptiness, one abandons the impression of reality. If one cultivates the thought of having nothing, then one will abandon that later as well. When reality and non-reality do not stand before the mind, then there is no other concern, and the absence of object of focus is completely pacified. The noble Asanga

If someone asks, what is the object of focus for non-discriminating wisdom? The answer is: the nature of all phenomena, which is emptiness. If it is said that the emptiness to be focused upon is non-existent like the child of a barren woman, wouldn't all phenomena then become existent? The answer is: no. For example, if a murderer is killed, Devadatta (ལྷས་བྱིན།) will not be reborn. If so, how can it be called an object of focus? The answer is: it is the object of focus in conventional truth. Thus, the so-called emptiness is truly the emptiness of the collection of things, which is a distinction different from others, and can be expressed by clarifying other distinctions. Similarly, the so-called practice of emptiness is also solely the meaning of practicing the emptiness of the collection of things. If so, then all the phenomena to be practiced become objects of focus, and the so-called object of focus without things is a fault. If it is said that although there is no difference from the nature of phenomena, it temporarily appears as different, then only the phenomena that have been transformed by excessive attachment should be practiced. This also cannot avoid that fault, because it abides in an irrelevant state, so it is impossible to practice. Thus, how can the practice of only this aspect of the arising of things being without self-nature be combined with the practice of the suchness of all phenomena, and completely avoid touching the aggregation of phenomena? If it is completely avoided, then it will only become the practice of other phenomena, not the practice of the nature of phenomena. Indeed, even if the suchness of all phenomena is practiced, it will also involve general phenomena, but if one focuses on the suchness itself, making only the practice of suchness clear, then one can escape the evil destinies of samsara. Why? Because if all those with desire are regarded as the supreme object of practice, then desire will weaken; or hatred will be pacified by the body of the enemy; or ignorance will be reduced by the absence of the thought of both, but ultimately it is only selflessness. Therefore, focusing on that, only the clarity of that can become medicine, not the practice of all phenomena. If one focuses on that, only the nature of phenomena will become clear, not phenomena, what is the reason for this? Because practice can make both free, that is, without touching phenomena, only the nature of phenomena becomes clear.
