Homage to the accomplished one! Thus, the Victorious Grove ones say in the Great Miraculous Transformation Sutra. Those who are honored by all, Kurukulla, residing in the lineage of the clan. The venerable Ananda requested: To that Shakyamuni, the Bodhisattva who descended from Tushita, endowed with splendor and beauty of color, homage! Thus he spoke. The venerable Kalodayin also requested: For the sake of benefiting all sentient beings, whenever your crown, endowed with a crown jewel, was previously given, at that time also, homage is due! Thus, those who speak distinctly say in the Buddha's teachings. The venerable Ananda requested: To that one who descended from Tushita and entered the womb of his mother, and to the one who dwells in the womb, homage! Thus, the Sarvastivadins say in the wonderful Dharma. Thus, each of the four schools also has its own system of homage based on faith, but because it is extensive, it is not written here. If so, should monks also pay homage to those who have generated the mind of enlightenment? There is no way to know for sure that they will become Buddhas. Only those who have entered the stage, received prophecies, and are known should be paid homage. Bodhisattvas should only pay homage to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, and the elder Dharma brothers among the Bodhisattvas, and to no one else. According to worldly customs, for the sake of taming sentient beings, one should conform to the differences of time and place. It is taught that one should pay homage to one's mother, father, and so on. Monks should also be addressed with respectful language. Here, the abandonment of killing and so on by Bodhisattvas is not mentioned separately. How is that? It is sufficient because the perfection of morality is complete. If so, how can a single person, with the upasaka vows of three or five branches for as long as life lasts, and between that and their enlightenment, other than taking refuge, become three kinds of upasaka vows? This will be explained here. Thus, even those who are separated from the practice of enlightenment generate endless samsaric happiness, while those who are endowed with practice are transcendent.
