This is certain. For example, the nature of denying the cause and effect to be held as self is not. Then there is the view of the perishable aggregate. Then there is the view of holding to extremes. Then there is holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, because those who hold to them consider them to be pure. Then there is the view of holding views as supreme, because those who realize purity through it hold it as supreme. Then there is attachment to one's own views. Being content with that view is the sequence of hatred towards others. Each of the three causes can give rise to each, if subtle latent tendencies are not abandoned, improper attention is given, and the object is nearby. These then become the powers of cause, condition, and combination. These six subtle latent tendencies are also called afflictions because they defile the continuum of body, speech, and mind. Whatever are afflictions, those are also near afflictions. Whatever other mind-born dharmas, such as illusion, which have the nature of affliction, those are only near afflictions, because they defile the mind. Among them, illusion is deceiving others, by which one causes confusion, or from which one cannot know the minds of others, like an illusion, hiding one's own nature, and causing the mind to enter into an unreal nature, whatever dharma one possesses by which one deceives others, that is illusion. Pride and arrogance are pride, by the power of which one becomes disrespectful to the continuum of others' bodies and minds. Harm is the dharma of the cause of striking with whips and the like due to anger. Wrath is accompanied by sin, like teeth grasping food, being tightly grasped by sin and abiding. Resentment is related to unfriendliness and following, repeatedly focusing on objects that should be angered in the mind. Deceit is whatever dharma one possesses, from the way of what is truly abiding and what is not truly abiding, entering in a crooked and unclear way, that is the cunning of the mind's continuum. Among them, the cause of these and pride are the similar cause of the stain of desire. Resentment and harm are of anger. Wrath is the view of holding

Attachment. Deceit is a wrong view. There are ten types of secondary afflictions: lethargy, sleep, excitement, regret, jealousy, stinginess, shamelessness, lack of embarrassment, anger, and concealment. Lethargy means that it is trembling and unsteady, the body and speech are heavy, and the mind cannot clearly understand the object of focus. Sleep is sleep, which is a dharma that contradicts the arising of the five consciousnesses, and it is also the cause of making the mind dull. In a state of deep sleep, there is no awareness, and when awakened from sleep, what was created by the previous consciousness will produce such a state of mind, therefore it is said that the body is like an illusion. Shamelessness means that having a certain dharma, from oneself, without regard, committing sins, this is a naturally evil dharma. Lack of embarrassment means the same situation, from others. Anger is extreme anger in the mind towards sentient and non-sentient objects, which will make the mind violent now and in the future, that is, ferocity. Concealment is hiding sins. Following connection, following bondage and dwelling, so they are secondary afflictions, because they are extremely contrary to entering the side of virtue. Among these, lethargy, sleep, and lack of embarrassment are the similar causes of ignorance. Regret is the similar cause of hesitation. Shamelessness, excitement, stinginess, etc., are the similar causes of desire. Anger, jealousy, and anger are provoked. Concealment is the similar cause of aversion or ignorance. These are the ten stains and the near afflictions. There are three leaks: the leak of desire, the leak of existence, and the leak of ignorance. Among them, except for ignorance, the afflictions that act in the desire realm, including the ten secondary afflictions, are the leak of desire. The subtle increase after abandoning ignorance, in the form and formless realms, the actions are unspecified, looking inward and entering the grounds of equanimity, are the leak of existence. The ignorance of the three realms is the leak of ignorance. This is the root of all afflictions, therefore it is established separately. From the peak of existence to the uninterrupted hell, the place of birth
