I also possess. In the third dhyana, the feeling of tranquility, which corresponds to the mind, is the feeling of pleasure. The feeling that is associated with the consciousness of the colored root and is not tranquil is the aggregate of suffering. The feeling of satisfaction that corresponds to the mind consciousness is the feeling of pleasure. The mind itself is not satisfied, it is the feeling of unhappiness. The nature of everything, neither tranquil nor non-tranquil, is the feeling of equanimity. Because most of the happiness and suffering of the mind arise from discrimination, not from the body, because from the power of the object, even arhats will arise. Again, there are six kinds, from the touch arising from the gathering of the eye root to the touch arising from the gathering of the mind root, so far the aggregate of feeling is finished. Here, although pots, cloths, and forms, etc., conditioned phenomena, are common in conditioned phenomena, their respective causes and conditions are different. From that difference, there are also mutual differences such as abdominal distension. That difference is called a sign, because from that one can make differential inferences about all things. The sign of the pot, etc., by what does the dharma born from the mind hold, recognize, and completely determine? That is the nature of holding the sign, called thought. To this, the Vaibhashikas say that the non-corresponding name and the thought that acts together on the same thing make the meaning of the name clear and are known through thought. That is the manifestation of knowing through names, signs, and symbols of things, from which names are determined, and also from names things are determined. Therefore, language points to names, and names make things clear. Without a symbol, one will not understand things with names through unclear thoughts, nor will one use names to make people understand things. That's what they say. That has also been analyzed in detail elsewhere. The reason is: whether in the external environment or in the mind, it is not mixed with sound anywhere. Again, it is mixed with the shape of the letters, and slightly expands the shape of things. Whatever exists in the unreal nature

Fools cling to this. They definitely cling to external objects and speech, therefore it is established as discrimination. Thus it is said. Perception is also of six kinds, namely, perception that arises simultaneously with eye consciousness, and so on, up to perception that arises simultaneously with mind consciousness, which is called the aggregate of perception. The aggregate of formations consists of mental factors. From these arise feelings and perceptions, and because they are the root of strife and the cause of cyclic existence, they are made into separate aggregates. The root of strife is twofold: excessive attachment to desire and excessive attachment to views. The main causes of these are, in order, feelings and perceptions. These are also what become the cause of cyclic existence, namely, attachment to feelings and the perverted perception of cyclic existence. Other mental factors besides these are intention, contact, attention, desire, conviction, faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, wisdom, investigation, analysis, shame, embarrassment, equanimity, liberation, roots of virtue, roots of non-virtue, roots of the unspecified, as well as pervasive, bonds, latent tendencies, near afflictions, pervasive entanglements, outflows, torrents, yokes, grasping, knots, obscurations, knowledge, and forbearance. These are all formations. Among these, intention is the mind's manifest activity, the function of the mind. Because the mind obtains a nature associated with action, it is the nature of having the function of entering into this and that action. It also has three aspects: virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified. Also, it arises simultaneously with eye consciousness and so on, so there are six. Contact is the thing established as father, mother, and child, it is the collection of sense faculty, object, and consciousness. When the collection of sense faculty, object, and consciousness exists, it generates feelings such as pleasure, and it resembles completely severing the alteration of the faculty that is in accordance with what follows.
