These six places are the seventeen places. The sentient beings residing there and so on are the form realm. On one side of the great fruit are the sentient beings without perception. Some say that the location of these and so on is only above the great fruit. The term 'non-great' here is also considered a name for Avīha (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and non-desire. The five places from Non-Great and so on up to Akanistha are the Pure Abodes, pure because only the noble ones are born and reside in these places. In the formless realm, there is no place, and the four aggregates, such as feeling, are experienced equally. There are four kinds of birth distinctions: the sphere of infinite space, the sphere of infinite consciousness, the sphere of nothingness, and the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. These do not have an upper or lower position caused by location. Wherever one enters into samadhi, those who have attained it are born there after death. Moreover, those who die from there do not form an intermediate existence in the same place. Here, because there is no form, it is formless, and its essence is formlessness. Merely formless and formlessness is a negation of inferiority. Therefore, after dying from there, their form arises only from form. Others say that mind arises only from mind, and the maturation of the body is due to the attainment of entering into samadhi, which is completely habituated. Some Dharma masters say that the meaning of inferiority is expressed with a negative word, and that in the formless realm there is also form, there is also a place, and from above to above there are also countless palaces, and so on, from the earth and so on, up to the distinctions of weight and shape are explained in detail. Because this is not the view of the majority, its view is not elaborated here. Because it belongs to the same side as dhyana and so on, the eight preparatory stages that are truly collected by dhyana and so on, that is, each of the dhyanas and the eight formless absorptions, are by what means one enters into them. The preparatory stage of the first dhyana is the unobstructed four branches. The first dhyana itself is not associated with investigation and analysis, for those who want to abandon it.

Having the same feeling as equanimity, without conceptualization but with examination, is the superior meditative stabilization, therefore its result is the desired Great Brahma, as well as the form and formless realms. Among them, those who mainly possess the ripening of discipline are the gods who enjoy in the desire realm. Those who possess the ripening of meditative stabilization are the Brahma hosts and so on. Those who possess the ripening of wisdom are the pure abodes, because only the noble ones are born there. These are also in the place of carelessness, and are vessels of instructions that are in accordance with complete enlightenment. The place of carelessness is of three kinds: tasting the flavor of the bliss of desire, which is mostly the gods of the desire realm; tasting the flavor of the bliss of meditative stabilization, which are those born in meditative stabilization; tasting the flavor of the cause of transcendence of suffering, which are those in the pure abodes. The formless ones are not suitable because of the impossibility of going and so on. For those to be tamed, one should cultivate loving-kindness and contemplate the perfect Buddha and so on, and then they will become vessels of perfect enlightenment. Is there only one three realms? Answer: The three realms are not limited, as long as space exists, so do the world realms. How do the world realms abide? Answer: In the east, south, west, and north directions, and above and below, there is no gap between the destruction and formation of the world realms. Above Akanistha there is also the desire realm, and below the desire realm there is also Akanistha. Whoever is free from desire from one realm is free from all realms. Similarly, also from the form and formless realms. Whoever relies on the first dhyana and generates magical powers generates them in whatever world realm they are born in, and they are definitely born in the Brahma world itself, not elsewhere. How long is it from below to above for the twenty-three abodes of the gods that are mentioned? Answer: As long as it is from abode to abode below, so long is it above, all the way to the boundary of Jambudvipa. Then, the immeasurable of the Non-contention and so on
