The explanation of the ground is like this. Name and form arise from the condition of consciousness. That is, in the stage of connecting continuity, in the mother's womb, the four immaterial aggregates such as feeling, and how does form, which is caused by the four great elements, exist? That is called "soft", gradually becoming "blurry", "round", "long", and the stage of limbs stretching out, etc. Among them, the four aggregates themselves are name because they tend to be reborn or tend to objects. Form, which is caused by the four great elements, is form itself because it arises from changes such as cold. As name and form gradually grow and mature, they become the cause of the six sense bases in the stage of eyes, etc., and in that stage the six sense bases are completed. The six sense bases themselves are the meaning of the gate of the person who arises from mind and mental factors. These six sense bases are completely mature, and from the manifestation of karma and objects, touch, which is the nature of the aggregation of the root, object, and consciousness, arises. This is six aspects according to the difference of support. From the touch, whatever nature of experiencing happiness, etc., arises, that kind of feeling arises. Similarly, the limb thrown out by action, nourished by craving and grasping, becomes existence at the time of death. From that, according to the order of how it is thrown out, birth, old age, and death occur. Among them, what is craving? It is the manifest desire not to be separated from the feeling of happiness, the manifest desire to be separated from suffering, and the absence of manifest desire for both non-suffering and non-happiness. Grasping is the desire and attachment that arises for what is desired, etc. It has four aspects according to the difference of object, namely desire grasping, view grasping, moral discipline and asceticism grasping, and self-entity grasping. Because this lust will make people approach desires, etc. What is the difference between craving and grasping? It is also possible that there is no difference. Manifest joy is craving. Grasping is in terms of difference. Or, the distant cause is craving, and the near cause is grasping. Because of that reason.

Thus, the seed of action, nourished by craving and grasping, gives rise to fruit and tends to manifest, which is called existence. In the sutras, it is said: desire existence, form existence, and formless existence. However, it only refers to karma existence. Immediately after existence, the consciousness here will be born, and gradually there will be names and forms, and so on, until feeling. The joy of birth and death, etc., will also change. In this way, according to the order of speaking, this collection of sufferings of selflessness will arise completely. Thus, here it should be known that the twelve links of dependent origination are summarized and established as four links. That is, the branch that draws, the branch that is drawn, the branch that accomplishes, and the branch that is accomplished. Three, four, three, and two, in that order. The twelve branches are summarized into four branches and proclaimed. These are related to the intermediate state, not to death in the intermediate state, nor to practice in the form and formless realms. Thus, for the time being, it is said in terms of the establishment of two lives, and it can also be established in three lives. That is, ignorance and action are past lives. Consciousness to existence is the present life. Birth and old age and death are future lives. Thus, the actions caused by ignorance in the past life are the first consciousness that connects the continuity in this life, and even feeling, so that the mature fruit appears and is accomplished. The current love, attachment, existence, etc. also give rise to future births, etc. The necessity of establishing these three lives lies in dispelling the universal ignorance of the past, future, and intermediate limits. Although it is said in this way, when the actions caused by ignorance arise, love, attachment, existence, etc. also exist, and they also give rise to future births.
