Therefore, in order to attain accomplishment, the analogy of being like a dream state does not hold true even for those who assert the existence of external objects. Therefore, according to the Madhyamaka view, even in the waking state, things are similar to dreams, and for those whose inverted bonds of attachment to appearances, such as things that are in accordance with karma and its consequences, have not disappeared, distinctions are made regarding virtue and so on. However, because the cause of delusion from not being fully asleep is unclear and confused, results ripen in dreams. In the waking state, because deep sleep is separated from the cause of delusion, the result of appearing clear and unconfused is more excellent. Even in the dream state, since it is believed that karma and its results exist, faults such as not being a bhikshuni should not be criticized. Because it is only under the authority of the precepts taken that the two, keeping vows and not keeping vows, are to be distinguished. Therefore, in worldly terms, sentient beings engage in manifesting inverted actions, and from that, they are completely afflicted. But in ultimate truth, it is not so. If there is not even a little bit of object outside of that very nature or the object of consciousness, then where does one abide to perform actions? For example, like dreams and illusions, and so on. For that very reason, in order to abandon the inversions of those, Bodhisattvas generate the mind of enlightenment, and from the accumulation of merit and so on, until they manifestly awaken, they liberate sentient beings. Now, is there a complete purification for karma that has been done and accumulated and is endowed with power? Yes, there is. Karma is of two types: non-virtue, which is practiced when desired; and virtue with outflows, which belongs to the three realms. Its power is that even if the doer does not want it, it will truly bring about its result. To completely purify it is to make it powerless, that is, by applying causes and conditions that are contrary to those that generate the power of karma, it becomes powerless. The causes of karma are the afflictions and the objects are the realms. The root of the afflictions is inappropriate attention.

I am the non-pure discrimination. To grasp at reality in that is the non-true pervasive discrimination. Initially, in that, to impute such things as outer and inner, firm and happy, mine and me, and to see qualities in actions. Thus, performing actions, and being completely delighted with actions that have been performed, praising and proclaiming them, etc., is the culmination. By what? By what has been accumulated, it will be able to produce results. To cut that is like this: by constantly engaging in completely eliminating actions, one becomes weak. When that action is done, then as soon as it is done, one regrets it and sees faults, and by eliminating it, at that time, because the culmination is destroyed, one becomes weak, meaning one cannot arise. Sinful deeds should be abandoned because they are condemned by the wise and because they are not something whose results should be desired. That also, in front of the Fully Enlightened Ones, etc., one confesses individually and abandons individually, "This is what I have done badly," and by eliminating it like that and vowing not to do it again, one can purify it, because of the nature of the mind. It is not something to be removed like pulling out a thorn with a needle. Therefore, suppressing it by constantly engaging in the opposing side is extremely weak. Constantly engaging in the opposing side means being extremely diligent in non-virtuous actions and in virtuous actions with outflows, and also in virtuous actions without outflows. By the power of reversal, one can also suppress it, so that even if it exists, one does not do it at all. The power of individual reversal is obtaining the vow of not doing from having taken the vows correctly. There are also five kinds of vows: the vows of individual liberation, such as being a lay follower, and the three kinds of vows of generating the mind of enlightenment, and that itself, the vows of empowerment with distinctions, and the vows of meditative concentration with outflows, and those themselves, the vows without outflows, free from outflows. Taking those correctly means holding and abiding as in the ritual. The first three vows, etc., by the power of mindfulness, the vow of not doing, by nature, does not do sinful actions.
