is the nature of all dharmas. If the Tathagata is the nature of the Dharmadhatu, and the Dharmadhatu is also Suchness, and Suchness is also the common characteristic of all dharmas, then the dharmas are also various, because each has its own different characteristics. How can the Dharmadhatu, which follows this, not be distinct? Because it is the nature of distinctness. Even if it becomes distinct, how can it be a common characteristic? For example, the emptiness of space, following all the distinct things such as pots and cloths, should also be understood as not being distinct. The space of a pot and the space of a cloth, etc., are merely nominal. Similarly, with the nature of Dharmata, following all the distinct things such as form, it is also not distinct, because turning away from all elaborations is the common characteristic of all dharmas. From the emptiness of form to the emptiness of consciousness, etc., because other distinctions are abandoned, it is merely nominal. Not abandoning other distinctions means that from Subhuti's "form is empty" to "consciousness is empty" is also the same. Whatever arises dependently, that is said to be emptiness, that is dependently imputed, and is the Middle Way. And from the reasoning that "because of being separated from separation, it is considered to be non-different." Ultimately, in this Dharmadhatu, there is no abandoning of one's own nature, nor is there a close acceptance of another nature. It is said: Because of turning away from self-nature, it is neither different nor non-different, neither permanent nor impermanent. The Blessed One also said: Saying space, space, space is unspeakable. Similarly, saying emptiness, emptiness, emptiness is unspeakable. Teaching the Dharma is also not meaningless, because it is the cause for realizing it. Just as seeing the content through a letter and understanding the meaning, the common aspect of the great compassion of the Tathagatas, making clear the unspeakable meaning by speaking, is like drawing a picture in the sky, which is very wonderful.

Thus it is said. Intelligence Ocean, for example, some people only use various colors to depict the sky, which is formless, invisible, unobstructed, and non-discriminating. Intelligence Ocean, even more so, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, perform extremely difficult deeds, that is, after fully realizing enlightenment of the inexpressible Dharma, they use speech to make other sentient beings able to recognize it, and so on (omitted in the middle). The Dharmadhatu is completely pure, and this is also because of its inherently pure nature. Because of the completeness of equanimity towards all sentient beings, it enters into everything without distinction. Just as one's own mind is completely purified and perfectly accomplished, and is always naturally luminous, so too, the complete purity of nature is the same as the complete entry into the minds of all sentient beings, which is naturally completely pure. However, because it is free from sudden defilements, it should not be distinguished. At that time, it is also not stained by faults, because it is naturally completely pure. Why? Because greed and so on are faults, because they are things that should be eliminated, and they are things that defile the mind. These are also sudden, because they arise from the power of observation, so they are not its nature. Precisely because of this, they should be abandoned, because nature cannot be abandoned. Thus it is said, this mind is naturally luminous. Just as the sky is naturally completely pure, but to those whose eyes are impure, it appears impure because it is damaged by cataracts and so on, so too, although the Dharmadhatu is pure, the cause of greed and so on, which is caused by one's own discrimination, causes those whose eyes of wisdom are damaged by the cataracts of ignorance to appear upside down even though they are naturally completely pure. However, those who possess the eye of wisdom that is completely pure in all aspects do not think in this way. That pure Dharmadhatu, which is also completely pure in all aspects, is the Dharmakaya of all the Tathagatas without distinction that should be proclaimed. Only this.

The venerable one is referred to as the Tathagata. Because it is always only thus. For that very reason, it also exists in the mind streams of all sentient beings. Therefore, it is said that all sentient beings possess the essence of the Tathagata. Although it pervades everything, sentient beings do not see it like a blind person not seeing the sun, due to the power of their own obscurations. As stated in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha: Like the moon in a broken vessel, flawed sentient beings cannot see it. If the Tathagatas are of the nature of the completely pure realm of Dharma, then their nature is devoid of all elaborations. Since there is no effort, how do they generate the wisdom that is the cause of accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings? It is like space. For example, space, by its nature of not hindering the arising of the actions of body, speech, and mind, provides opportunity and does not discriminate. And like the rays of the moon, sun, and lamps, etc., arise in it without effort and make forms, etc., fully manifest. Wish-fulfilling jewels also fulfill the thoughts of sentient beings without effort. Likewise, the Tathagata abiding in the completely pure realm of Dharma is established as accomplishing all benefits without effort. Therefore, the completely pure realm of Dharma becomes the causal entity for generating all the five wisdoms of the Tathagata, or the manifestation of wisdom, the enjoyment body and the nature of the emanation body, like space, provide opportunity for all the causes of accomplishing the activities of sentient beings. Due to its inexhaustible nature, its vastness, and its unobstructedness, even without discrimination, it arises from the power of previous habitual tendencies. This alone is the supreme inconceivable nature of the Tathagatas, that which is fully adorned with all the marks and signs, blesses throughout the eons until the end of samsara.
