In order to comprehend the power and wisdom of the departed, in order to obtain the direct perception that does not diminish and follows, in order to travel in all realms of the world, in order to obtain individual appearances in all mandalas of the Buddha's retinue, in order for one's own body to follow in all lifetimes, in order to possess the inconceivable Great Vehicle, and in order not to abandon but to practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva, this is the eighth. Similarly, in order to practice the conduct of a Bodhisattva who abides perfectly in the irreversible wheel, in order to have the actions of body, speech, and mind, in order to ascertain the Dharma of the Buddha immediately upon seeing, in order to comprehend power and wisdom immediately upon uttering a sound, in order to obtain great joy of sentient beings immediately upon seeing and to turn away afflictions, in order to obtain a body like the great king of medicine, in order to obtain a body equal to a wish-fulfilling jewel, and in order to practice the conduct of all Bodhisattvas, this is the ninth. Similarly, in order to manifest perfect enlightenment, the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, in all realms of the world, in order to be born in all paths of children without exceeding the one path of children, and youthful play, residing in the inner city, renunciation, practicing austerities, going to the Bodhi tree, subduing the Maras, manifesting perfect enlightenment, making requests, turning the great wheel of Dharma, showing the great passing into Nirvana, and in order to follow the power and wisdom of the great Buddha-field. As vast as the Dharmadhatu, reaching the limit of the realm of space, reaching the end of the ultimate limit, in countless eons, countless Buddhas appear, in order to continuously manifest great wisdom. Thus, the tenth great aspiration is called the Manifesting One, and these essences are the ten great aspirations and great empowerments. Thus, each of them has countless hundreds of millions of aspirations.

These are the distinctions of the aspiration prayers that completely purify the path of meditation, which states, 'May I and all sentient beings be completely purified, and may all the deeds accomplished by the Bodhisattvas be attained individually.' Among them, the first great aspiration is for the sake of perfecting the accumulation of merit. The second is for the sake of the accumulation of wisdom. The fifth is for the sake of fully ripening sentient beings, including what is relied upon, what the mind is like, which sentient beings, where they dwell, and how they are transformed to be fully ripened. The three are for the sake of realizing the distinctions of one's own ground, for the sake of traversing to the ultimate Bodhisattva ground, and for the sake of going to the ultimate of all. Among these, the manifest activity of seeking meaning is aspiration, which is the distinction of desire. The means of accomplishing it is effort. What is accomplished by it is manifest realization. These three are successively manifested on this ground. The first aspiration has three kinds of offerings: the offering of acquisition, which is with clothing and so on; the offering of reverence, which is with umbrellas and so on; and the offering of practice, which is with the practice of faith and so on. There are three kinds of service: attendance and reverence, proper seeking, and practice. Possessing all kinds of excellence means having many kinds of objects and abundant objects. Being purified by great devotion means having intense joy and dedicating everything to enlightenment with devotion. Being as vast as the realm of Dharma means having the supreme nature of all other roots of virtue. Reaching the limit of the realm of space means that the cause of impermanence, the fruit of desire, is inexhaustible. Reaching the limit of the future means that the permanent is the cause of attaining the permanent fruit of Nirvana. Throughout all kalpas and all Buddhas, there is no interruption in their appearance. The second is that the principle of Dharma is the transmission of scriptures such as Moda. Holding it correctly means bestowing the instructions that enable realization. It is for the sake of bestowing the acceptance of scriptures and recitation. Enlightenment is the Dharma that is attained, and there are three kinds of enlightenment.
