That is what you do. The complete purification of the fruit is that it truly shows and satisfies the minds of sentient beings, through wisdom and power. Eighth, the unity of intention and action is for the sake of entering the Mahayana, because it does not desire other vehicles. The Mahayana is also great because it possesses seven kinds of greatness: the greatness of the object is because it possesses vast and immeasurable teachings such as the Sutra Pitaka. The greatness of accomplishment is because it accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others. The greatness of wisdom is because it knows the selflessness of persons and phenomena. The greatness of diligent effort is because it is constantly and respectfully practiced for three countless eons. The greatness of skillful means is because it does not abandon samsara and is free from all defilements. The greatness of perfect accomplishment is because it perfectly accomplishes the powers, fearlessness, and unshared qualities of the Buddha. The greatness of the Buddha's activity is because it repeatedly manifests perfect enlightenment and shows great nirvana. Therefore, even a little joy arising in this is said to be close to great fruit, as the "Double Sutra" says: "Hero! If someone generates joy in the Mahayana, they will not fall into the lower realms for a thousand eons, and will not be born in the animal realm for five thousand eons. Likewise, it is the same in the realm of the hungry ghosts. For twenty-five thousand eons, they will be born in the heavenly realms and the Brahma realms." Here, if there is one who does not generate roots of virtue, is possessed by evil friends, and is called "unwilling," they will not enter, realize, develop faith in, or fear this profoundly vast and well-spoken Mahayana Dharma, but will slander it in many ways, even saying that it is not the Buddha's word. The Dharma categories spoken by the Blessed One, spoken by the Tathagata, are for sentient beings who have truly entered the Mahayana.

It is for the sake of meaning. Why is that? Because, Subhuti, beings who are inclined towards inferiority are not even able to listen to this Dharma. How is it that the Great Vehicle is not the word of the Buddha? Because it is outside the Sutras, Vinaya, and Abhidhamma. It is said, "Whatever enters the Sutras, appears in the Vinaya, and does not contradict the nature of Dharma, that is the word of the Buddha." If the Great Vehicle is not like that, what is it? It is not so. The Prajnaparamita and other various Sutras and Vinayas are definitely taught there, and especially are the nature of Dharma of all Dharmas. If it is said that even though it is also in the Paramita, it is not taught in this way in the three Pitakas of the schools, then if that were the case, the three Pitakas divided into eighteen schools, whose texts and meanings are very different from each other, would become non-Buddha's words. Furthermore, it is said in the Vinaya-vibhanga, "One hundred years after the Sugata's complete Nirvana, due to the differences in the teachings, the first two schools were the Sthavira and the Mahasanghika." The Bhagavan Vimalakirti also prophesied that when King Krki's eighteen men showed the dream of pulling cloth, the teaching of Shakyamuni would be divided into eighteen schools. Furthermore, whatever Dharma is taught by the Tathagata, when those words and letters, and the order itself, are accurately grasped and taught, without diminishing or increasing, and without reversing, then this Sutra is said to be spoken from the mouth of the Buddha, or spoken from the mouth of the Victorious One. As the Bhagavan, the Righteous One, himself said, "Here," and so on. When the meaning spoken by the Tathagata is only slightly connected with other letters and other orders, or accurately collected, or explained, then this Sutra is called the Sutra that accords with the teachings. Wherever the meaning is also different, it is neither the word of the Buddha nor the permitted teaching, like worldly treatises and so on. Now, the texts of the schools differ greatly in terms of sound and meaning. There are also those who recite the Sutras in a reversed manner. Even in one Vinaya, some
