For the sake of forbearance towards all dharmas, the forbearance that arises in accordance with the birth of the wisdom of Suchness arises. Here, in the stage of practice by faith, one obtains the dharani of forbearance, while the other three begin from the Joyful Land. Here, the Bodhisattva, by the power of being master of samadhi, blesses the letters of the mantra, blessing these letters of the mantra in such a way that they may be accomplished for the sake of pacifying all sentient beings' plagues, near harms, epidemics, and conflicts, and for the sake of exhausting all sins and evil destinies. These blessings are accomplished only through the particularity of the ritual. The wisdom of blessing is the mantra dharani. Because of the very object of focus of that dharani, those letters are also referred to by the term dharani. Furthermore, 'mana' (མ་ན,मन,mana, meaning "mind" or "thought") refers to knowledge. 'trai' (ཏྲཻ,त्रै,trai, meaning "three") refers to protection. Wisdom and compassion should be referred to by the term mantra, and because they have a common cause, those letters are also called mantras. Because they cause the abandonment of ignorance and the generation of knowledge, they are vidya mantras. Because they are the abiding place of all-knowingness, they are words. Therefore, "the places of secret mantras of dharanis and the words of vidya mantras" are also names. Here, on the first ground, one obtains the dharani called "special blessing," and by its power, one will be blessed by the most excellent dharmas. On the nine grounds, beginning with the second, in order, from higher to higher, most excellent, namely: stainless, well-established, difficult to overcome, ornament of the mind, lamp of the mandala of wisdom, particularly going, non-conceptual, limitless gate, and inexhaustible treasure. Likewise, on each one, one obtains separately countless and immeasurable dharanis, each preceded by a single dharani. Furthermore, because the Buddhas residing in the ten directions' world realms completely grasp with intention and so forth, they destroy the power of the maras who strive greatly to create obstacles.
