One should generate the mind of not doing, and afterwards also protect it, that is, thinking, 'I will never do this again.' Among them, the downfall caused by the afflicted mind of greed, extreme torment, jealousy, pride, disbelief, disrespect, etc., is afflicted. That which is caused by laziness, negligence, carelessness, forgetfulness, etc., is not afflicted, except for offering to the Three Jewels. Here, negligence and laziness, etc., are also considered afflicted. Here, extreme torment refers to disturbance, that is, anger and hatred. Laziness is not liking virtuous deeds. Negligence is not wanting to be respectful in body and mind. One should learn to abandon those downfalls, as well as hypocrisy, flattery, ingratiation, measuring with profit, seeking gain with gain, selling alcohol, weapons, poison, living beings, opium, sesame oil, etc., and extracting sesame and mustard oil without examination, that is, making a living by means of being condemned, which is called wrong livelihood, etc., without end. One should also learn to generate the endless qualities that are contrary to this. Therefore, the limitless trainings are taught in the Sutras, etc., because the conduct of Bodhisattvas is immeasurable. As it is said: The conduct of Bodhisattvas, is said to be immeasurable, the conduct of training the mind, should definitely be practiced for a while. So on and so forth, this is also the training of a Bodhisattva, that is, training the mind in this way. This is because it is the root of all the benefits of sentient beings. As it is also said: In the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it is said: All phenomena are preceded by the mind, if one knows the mind completely, then one will know everything completely. The world is led by the mind, the mind cannot see the mind. Good or non-good deeds, are all created by the mind. The non-downfall of a Bodhisattva is that whatever small action is spoken of, whether from the point of view of accomplishing or from the point of view of preventing, one does not go beyond it, this is the true aspect of non-downfall. The nature of downfall is to transcend.

Although viewing, having compassion and transcending, there is no falling, thus extensively explaining the perfection of discipline with pride. Thus, the ritual and a little practice of properly taking the Bodhisattva vows have been completed. The ritual and practice of properly taking the unsurpassed Vajrasattva vows, I will clearly state in the oral instruction spike and the fearless commentary. So, when a certain sentient being, until the end of life, takes refuge in the Three Jewels, from the three branches, five branches, until Bodhi, starting from the three branches, that is, the three branches of the lay vows, the novice vows, the monk vows, the Bodhisattva vows, the Vajrasattva vows, in that order, when properly taken, is it like cold meeting fire, when the later vows are encountered, do the previous vows disappear? Or, because of having the increase of abandonment, the later and the former combine, obtaining its name, just like the five training bases are mixed together, only three become eight, or both also become ten together with eight? Or, do they each arise, abide in difference, like various decorations on one support? It should be said. Among them, the first statement is not correct, because it is not the reason for the vows to be lost, and there is no contradiction, just like when other coldness arises, the previous coldness does not disappear, because there is no contradiction. Only accumulating this is what establishes the name, not the previous one, nor the second one. Because each higher vow arises and abides from each properly taken. If so, then at that time, what is the difference or the need to approach the many abandonments such as abandoning killing? Because abandoning killing and so on itself, there is not the slightest difference, because the kinds are the same, like many gold ornaments of the same kind. Then how are they different? From the difference of one's own nature and the initial cause, that is, the difference of external common action and the accumulation of the internal superior heightened intention and the difference of mind, there is a higher abandonment.
