It is said that because the word "difference" does not have a common meaning. Similarly, if only view is ignorance, then being the same as view becomes ignorance, which is no longer the meaning of "same." If it is said that there are many things that are the same as itself, then this argument can be completely refuted by the author of Pramāṇavārttika. In Pramāṇavārttika it says: "Whatever is contradictory to this is said here, the view of emptiness is contradictory to it, All the faults arising from it, are extremely established as contradictory in nature." The object of general and specific distinction, when fully examined, is the meaning of sameness. For example, like saying "a forest with palāśa trees," it actually only expresses the nature of palāśa. Similarly, by explicitly expressing the difference, it mainly definitively shows ignorance as the source of its nature. Because the view of self is ignorance, therefore, seeing no-self, one can cut off the root of all its afflictions, and cutting off the root can cut off the continuum. Because what is contrary to all afflictions is seeing no-self, and it is also inseparable from yogis, therefore afflictions will not arise again. If it is said that just as adding qualities to things with faults, adding faults to things with qualities will certainly not lead to liberation from samsara, that is not correct. Because qualities arise truthfully, they harm faults. If asked why it cannot be reversed, it is because qualities are the very nature of things, while faults are inverted. Because this sentient being is naturally luminous, arising from other places, and being defiled by ignorance, therefore defilements are temporary. Falsely clinging to non-existent things, because it is without foundation, therefore in the ultimate sense, all dharmas are not truly existent at any time. Therefore, if analyzed, because it is emptiness, defilements are temporary. Therefore, things that were powerless before, after becoming its self, are also powerless later. Faults will not arise in abiding in its nature. It is like this: non-harm and the meaning of otherness, nature and inversion.

Even with effort, there is no harm, because the mind is directed towards that side. Nature is separate from effort, so it cannot be prevented. If effort also arises from seeing faults in virtues and seeing virtues in faults, then when all dharmas are seen as selfless, for one who has become self-nature, there will be no seeing faults as virtues, or seeing virtues as faults, or not seeing virtues, because from seeing selflessness, there is no harm. Therefore, nature becoming self is only without harm. How can those with minds completely abandon it? Therefore, the faults that are accompanied by harm, that have unreal meaning, that are not self-nature, do not harm the path that has become its self-nature, which has the characteristic of arising by suppressing faults. It is impossible to make effort to create faults in the self-nature of that path. Even so, it should be acknowledged and said that even if faults arise and effort is made, there will be no harm. Preventing the effort to create faults, because of the path of selflessness of all dharmas, it will fall to the side of having virtues, so it is only making effort to exhaust faults. If one can fully see the nature of all things, faults may arise. Even so, this is like a traveler abandoned by a noble captain, because it has strength and correctness, it only starts the path of action with effort, and it will fall to the side of virtue, so it is not fond of faults. Because those with love arise with effort to abandon the suffering of themselves and others, if their own suffering is not exhausted, they cannot eliminate the suffering of others, so they should strive to exhaust their own suffering and to manifest all things. Since the method has arisen, that cause is hidden, so it is difficult to explain it. Since the cause and effect of nobility and liberation have not been manifested, it is difficult to explain it to others, because he has no ability for it. Therefore, the virtues and faults of sentient beings are all rooted in habituation, becoming the control of self.
