It is also established as "the armor-like steadfast effort." Wisdom is of three types. Among them, some go alone to a solitary place, and the Prajnaparamita that arises from examining the meaning of the scriptures is the wisdom that arises from hearing. Even so, some have doubts, and the wisdom that arises from the power of reasoning and so on is the wisdom that arises from thinking. They eradicate the root of doubt, and from the effort of practice, the Samadhi that is attained arises from meditation. Meditation is of three types: Shamatha, Vipassana, and the union of Shamatha and Vipassana. When Shamatha is perfected and one enters into the state, the wisdom, view, intellect, and appearance that operate together with it, that is Vipassana. Both of these are wisdom that arises from meditation. Therefore, by means of the form of wisdom that focuses on the absence of characteristics, by generating all the Buddha-dharmas such as generosity in one's own mind-stream, one should truly accomplish it, and being skilled in wisdom and means is beneficial for liberation. Here, liberation is the characteristic of separation, and precisely because it is beneficial for the characteristic of liberation, it is said to be beneficial for liberation. Initially, what becomes the cause for entering the teaching that has the nature of complete realization of all aspects arises from hearing and thinking. Similarly, it is also said in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajna Sutra: "Raviyukta, therefore, at that time, Bodhisattva Mahasattva should cultivate Prajnaparamita and arise through being skilled in means." Among them, Bodhi is the perfect complete enlightenment, having reached the ultimate state, therefore, the hero who desires to realize this Bodhi is called Bodhisattva. That which one desires to realize for the sake of benefiting all sentient beings is great, and because it is great, it is Mahasattva. These two words explain the generation of Bodhicitta. Prajnaparamita is the complete understanding of all dharmas without remainder. Means is faith in objects such as the Buddha, diligence in generosity and so on, mindfulness of desiring virtue and so on, and Samadhi that does not cling to the agent, action, and what is done. In this way, the meaning of the sense faculties disappears.
