How does it become an obstacle? For things without elimination and obstacles, it is unreasonable to consider that as the very meaning of uprightness. Regarding emptiness, isn't it only impossible if it is not deceived by valid cognition? The proof that something is emptiness, is that itself empty or non-empty? If it is empty, then it is merely non-existent, so how can it establish emptiness? If it is not empty, then the meaning of the proposition "everything is empty" is harmed, and that reason itself is uncertain. As it is said: To say that everything is non-existent, is it with a reason, or does the proposition itself establish it? If the presentation of the reason becomes sluggish, then what can some propositions do about this? So it is said. If emptiness is established only by the proof of emptiness, even so, without an establisher, the established will not be established. Like this, merely saying "it is empty" does not make it non-existent even conventionally. If the established arises from emptiness, how does that happen? Just as it is said in the world, "Offerings to spirits should be appropriate tormas," as it is said: From the dharmas that are merely empty, arise the dharmas that are empty. So it is said. Then, in the ultimate truth, there is neither establisher nor established, so it cannot establish the non-existence of the ultimate nature, right? This fault is not there, because what establishes that it is not the ultimate truth, is not the establisher that establishes that the thing will become like that, nor is it the agent of the established dharma. If the subject of knowledge is not the ultimate truth, even so, how can the object of knowledge become such a nature? How does a true ascertainment arise from the untrue? Ascertainment is not true, but it is also not untrue. For true ascertainment, there is no need, but for things that need ascertainment, it is necessary. Since ascertainment is not true, how can there be true ascertainment? Then, through subsequent inference with inverted appearances, there will not be an undeluded, accurate ascertainment, right? From the untrue arises the true, so it would become a fallacy of drawing conclusions from similar arguments, right? The very untruth of this is the argument.

Is it because it is uncertain as it appears? Is it because it is contradictory? It is not because it is uncertain, but because it is without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. Therefore, it is because it is without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. Therefore, just as it is from this, how can certainty arise even from what appears to be a valid proof? Mere similarity in sound does not obtain similarity in meaning. By this, Some say: If it is not true, then, if the object of certainty is true, why is the object of seeming valid cognition also not true? This is also to be refuted. Because here too, the sound of "not true" is the same, but the meaning is not. Like this, seeming valid cognition is not true because it deceives the object that is clung to. But in this case, even if the certainty does not deceive the object that is clung to, it is because it is separated from the ultimate nature. Therefore, even if the Madhyamikas accept valid cognition, or do not accept it, in either case, it should not be said that it is not possible to establish all phenomena as emptiness. Because they have already accepted those cognitions that do not deceive the object clung to by conventional truth, and are different from seeming valid cognition, as valid cognition. Therefore, the bubble of views that arises for this teaching is this: It is unreasonable to say that some say everything exists and some say everything does not exist, because it is said with the Madhyamikas in mind, and their tenets are not like that. Or, who can hate? It is enough to examine it. How can a wise Madhyamika hate a tenet realized by reason and scripture? Someone thinks: Someone thinks, for the time being, if someone realizes that something exists elsewhere, there is no lower realm. The fruits of well-performed and poorly-performed actions do not ripen, and those who hold this view are nihilists. If they hate existence, then, if those Madhyamikas who view everything as empty are the jewel on the crown of the group of non-existence, how can they not be hated? That is not the case, because there is no view of non-existence, it is unreasonable for the Madhyamikas to become nihilists.
