No. The cause is neither the same, nor is it a relationship of another kind. Not having a relationship is also not its object. Therefore, it itself is not occasional, nor is it its object. How can it become an occasional object? Therefore, even if one does not admit that it itself is occasional, one must admit it. Even if it is occasional, if it is not an untrue result, then happiness and so on will also cease to exist. Once a false thing is established as a false cause, since the example conforming to the Dharma has been established, this reason is also not contradictory. For a true thing, it is necessarily pervaded by having a true cause. Moreover, since these reasons are contradictory, when contradiction appears and retreats from the dissimilar side, how can it be uncertain? This explains the appearance of the Alaya-vijñana, which is the cause of the appearance of untrue consciousness. Therefore, non-image consciousness proves non-self-nature through the reason of self-nature, while image-possessing consciousness is the non-perception of the pervader, so it is not unestablished in part. If there is a basis, wouldn't the reason be established? For this reason, consciousness is the basis. If it does not exist, then it is unestablished because the basis is unestablished, is that so? No. The dharma of things, if there is no basis that has become a thing, will not be established, but the absence of the dharma of things is not the case. Here, the absence of one or many dharmas of things is considered the reason itself. Since things do not exist, the nature of one or many is unreasonable, so how can it be unestablished? A property that is separate from the dharma of things should not become a thing, because non-existence is not suitable as a basis, etc. If the nature of one or many is not established for non-existence, then it is very unestablished, is that so? Then what about now? Is the establishment of self-nature very established? If not, then those that are unestablished are established, because if there is no turning back from that, then do you want to apply reason? If it is not like that either, then this itself is refutation, why stop the turning back? No turning back is establishment. For non-things, there is also existence; for things, there is also non-existence, look at the behavior of fools. Thus it is said. Furthermore, what is known by inference arising from the sign of non-perception of the pervader

Now, it is certain. If that is certain, then "the basis is not established" is not refuted by the probans (reason), if it obstructs the cause of fulfilling its wish, then that is refutation. If that is established, then it is a true probans (reason), therefore, there is no refutation to it. Before the arising of inference, it is impossible to establish non-existence, because there is no valid cognition. Even if it exists, it would be meaningless because the pervasive is not observed. Because direct perception is not applicable here, and also because there is no sign for inference, and also because the sign has the same fault of occasion. Then, for a subject that hesitates between existence and non-existence, it must be admitted that the non-observation of the pervasive applies. If that is the case, would the very hesitation about the basis cause the probans (reason) to be unestablished? No, because there is no hesitation about the nature of the subject. If the knowledge of blue, etc., which is the nature that is different from not being knowledge, etc., is the subject, then there is no hesitation about it, and hesitating about the basis of the dispute is not hesitating about the subject, because that is the same in all cases, therefore all signs would become non-signs. When hesitating about existence and non-existence, it is not reasonable to hesitate about knowledge itself, etc., because that is another contradiction. Merely being separated from the object is the probans (reason), and also because there is no object. If it is said that the very nature of the reason is not established, it is not so, because the valid cognition that is empty of the nature of one and many is non-observation. This explains the non-observation of sequence and non-sequence for non-momentary things. There, only the non-momentary thing that is combined with the fabrication of conception and does not exist ultimately is the subject. If the imputed existence is prevented, would the real existence not be prevented? Then how should it be prevented? Because for existence, there is no such thing as prevention, and what does not exist is not a thing. If it is said that existence itself is prevented somewhere, then, what? Is it prevented where something exists, or is it prevented elsewhere? It is not possible there, because it is contradictory. It is not possible elsewhere either, because there is no thing. If that is the case
