It is enough to be content with the desires of the senses. Therefore, what is not here is only appearance. The appearance of non-existence is not compatible with an object. Even so, what fault is there in saying that the proof, etc., is not established? However, if appearance is without an object, then it will not be fixed as a place, etc., nor will it be a common ground for many causes, nor will it be the agent of action. As it is said: If consciousness is not an object, then place and time are not fixed, and the mind is also not fixed, and the agent of action will also become unreasonable. If someone says that, it is not true. Because, it is similar to experiencing a dream, tending towards what is called appearance. The meaning is that this appearance is similar to the experience of a dream and is meaningless. Therefore, similar to that, there is no unreasonableness in the determination of place and time, etc. Like this, although there is no external object that determines place, etc., one can definitely experience place, etc., through the experience of a dream. If it is said that the external object is the cause through indirect means, then even if it is the cause, it cannot prove that the determination of place, etc., is its cause. If the external place, etc., is near to where, then that appearance in the dream is the definite cause, that is not so, because it would lead to a state of non-confusion. Even if it is empty, but it appears at some time, it is not reasonable to think of it as a definite cause. If it itself generates the appearance of emptiness, then because there is no difference, it will arise arbitrarily. Even if things have no commonality, the mind will commonly point to it, that is, when two people dream the same dream at the same time. Mentioning the dream is to represent the mistaken consciousness, for other mistaken consciousnesses, such as the appearance of two moons, etc., one only sees that the mind is not fixed. If someone says that there, only the nature of one moon, etc., is common, then the moon, etc., exists, but for the time being there is no nature of two, etc. Moreover, if here, people with the same sensory defects experience uncertainty, then what is the use of saying that there is one moon, etc.? For what is related to meaning

Even without the smell of dust, there are combs and other things that appear. What can be done about this? Similarly, even without an external environment, it is the very appearance of doing things in a dream. Just as in the waking state, drinking beverages because of water, and swimming, etc., and the related matters such as quenching thirst, are actually done, so it is in the dream state as well. Therefore, just as in a dream, without an external environment, one can determine a place, etc., so it is in the waking state as well, and there is no contradiction. If it is said that there is no source of water in the dream state, then what difference does it make? If it is said that true things cannot be in accordance with it, then how can untrue and undifferentiated things be true? If the appearances in a dream are untrue, is it because they are harmed by the waking consciousness? What does harm mean? If it is said to be the recognition of untruth, then proving one's own object is the law of consciousness, and plundering the object of others is the law of human lords. Therefore, how does the waking consciousness prove that the object of the dream state does not exist? It is said thus: If you want to recognize that the object of others does not exist, then how does the consciousness that has its own function recognize that it does not exist? It is said thus. If it is said that it is because it is the nature of invisibility, then the consciousness of the dream will also prove that the appearances seen in the waking state do not exist, because they are also its invisible nature. Just as the waking consciousness is only focused on its own object, so are the consciousnesses of the dream. If it is said that the things dreamed of in a dream are not known in the waking state because they do not exist in the objects of perception, this is truly foolish! Because it does not hinder walking, etc., it is the act itself that proves non-existence that is the most important. What is the use of proving it with discrimination? It is said thus: Therefore, these non-existences are shown by the act itself. Those that do not hinder walking, etc., exist for those. This is what is said. Appearing and being suitable are the same in the waking state, but not appearing when asleep.
