Since the present perception is the same for others as well, perception cannot grasp anything that pervades past and future times. This explains that recognition is not perception. If the knowledge that makes something manifest is perception, then the previous state is not what is to be made manifest now, but rather what is to be remembered. Perception is not the nature of memory. However, if the present state is not made manifest, then it may be considered memory. How can focusing on making it manifest be called memory? As the young child Nonu Malenga says: "Only by measuring beforehand, the memory of 'it is that' arises. This 'this is that' is recognition, which is more excellent." If someone says this, then recognition becomes the nature of memory and apprehension, but it is not merely apprehension, because apprehension while remembering and remembering while apprehending are unreasonable. It is impossible for one thing to be both memory and apprehension, because they contradict each other. No one other than a madman can say that through which nature it is memory, through that nature it is apprehension. If it is apprehended through another nature, then one thing will not be both memory and apprehension. Even if it becomes so, it will only become perception and non-perception, but not merely perception, because it is not reasonable to be merely perception while remembering. Someone thinks that perception exists after the time of memory, but not in the nature of memory, and this alone will not become non-perception, because there is no contradiction. Therefore it is said: "Whatever exists before memory, that is called perception. Such words are not found even in kings or Vedas." If someone says this, then only understand it as "it is this." How can it be said that "that is this"? If there is no fault because it is understood as not different from that, then this is not understanding. How can it be considered reasonable to understand that "this is understood as not different from that"? If it is said that that is understanding itself, then is it through that understanding itself, or through another understanding? If it is said that it is through that understanding itself, then it cannot be understood in the case of the forgetful joy of the gods, because that understanding is memory and apprehension.

Thinking that its nature is not manifest and does not appear there, you say that this is merely the nature of clinging. To this, we say, how can we realize enlightenment and non-enlightenment without difference? Is this like eating someone else's food and then spitting it out? Is it that others are enlightened? Even if others are enlightened, how can this non-enlightened one realize the realm of others' enlightenment without difference from it? If you say that because it is ultimately one, there is no contradiction, then it is not so, because for oneness itself, enlightenment and non-enlightenment are unreasonable, and also there would be the fault that even what has not been seen before would have enlightenment. If you say it is not so, because there is no mental fabrication of memory for what has not been seen before, then, because enlightenment comes from memory, it is not ultimately one, and if it is necessary to state the cause of this examination, because of the reasons already stated, that is also unreasonable, so, abandoning and abandoning, are you relying on the deception of children by admitting it? As it is said, the jewel on the crown of the assembly of logicians said: Previous experience arises from memory, for that dharma, there is no superimposition, thus, there is no knowing this thought, how does it arise from the self-born? Therefore, recognition is not reasonable as direct perception, therefore, the moment that establishes it is not direct perception, because it is not established by direct perception. The non-momentary does not act sequentially, so it is not contradictory to direct perception, because it is enough to be satisfied with the meaning that arises incidentally, because the agent is not permanent. Those who say impermanence, it is only what those debaters do not want, because they admit that permanent wisdom is the permanent agent. If someone says this: Because this is also the result of impermanence, like other results, other agents have already gone before, then, even so, where does this agent's dependence on others, like other beings, have the agent itself and the self itself? The second and so on are also impermanent, because it is the same reason, so, for anyone, there is no self itself and agent itself. Therefore, even if this is a result, it must be examined as having no agent, and even if it is so, it is the same.
