If one speaks, what is the use of speaking? Why are the fruits of different times not seen as related to the same time? Because seeing is always impartial to different causes and non-different causes. It is enough to be attached to what is non-existent. Therefore, if the agent is permanent, then the fruits must be simultaneous, which is inevitable, and this statement is valid. The application is that those which, at one time, are close without the cause being fully present, those arise only at one time. For example, the appearance of a lamp being present, the changes in the form of a tree, the exhaustion of oil, and the discriminations that have their own objects, and so on. The arising, abiding, and ceasing of what is considered to be a permanent agent are also close without the cause being fully present at one time, which can be used as a self-nature refutation argument. But this is not the case, therefore, the refutation says that those which arise gradually are not close without the cause being fully present at the same time. For example, seedlings and trees, and branches, and so on. Arising, abiding, and ceasing also arise gradually, which is the perception of contradictory pervasion. It should not be thought that the proof cannot be established by considering incomplete co-authors, because if everything is an author, then incompleteness is unreasonable, and the permanent does not depend on co-authors. Thus, the Supreme Lord of Wisdom said: The agent and the non-agent, having the same nature in time, the permanent is independent, and sequential arising is contradictory. This is the negation of the permanent self and non-momentary objects such as pots, which produce fruits sequentially. This is not contradictory to direct perception, because it is unreasonable for direct perception to grasp what is non-momentary. A momentary direct perception cannot grasp what is non-momentary, because what is non-momentary pervades many moments, so how can a direct perception of one moment grasp its nature? What exists before and after is not what is negated now, because that would be the fault of being present now, and it would be the fault of appearing between arising and ceasing. Otherwise, there is.
