It has. Then immediately after that, the subsequent cognition does not arise, because the form is definite. Discerning individually arises, because merely remembering "that form is this" awakens mindfulness. It possesses non-afflictive and non-restraint qualities. For that person, again, immediately after that, the six great afflictive non-restraints, as before, all those repeatedly arise as a wheel of consciousness for a period of time, until the wheel is destroyed. Similarly, hatred also refutes. Pride also. Ignorance also. Doubt also. Views also refute partially in a way that is appropriate. Just as the eye consciousness is refuted, so too, with the ten kinds of clinging slumber, the ear consciousness refutes the sounds that are in accordance with their respective destinies. The consciousnesses of the nose, tongue, and body, with the four clinging slumbers to be abandoned by cultivation—desire, anger, pride, and ignorance—refute smells, tastes, and tactile objects in a way that is appropriate. Not by others. Just as the wheel-like assembly of afflictions, the eye consciousness and so forth, those that have been refuted, and non-restraint arises. Similarly, purity should also be understood as the wheel-like assembly of virtuous roots, in a way that is appropriate, giving rise to restraint. So, what is the meaning of the appropriate way? It should be said that when someone who wishes to turn away from the bondage of samsara sees a form with their eyes, the eye consciousness that arises from that first manifestation of aggregation becomes naturally indeterminate. Immediately after that person's eye consciousness, the subsequent cognition arises, which is to grasp generally "what is this or how is it," which is itself naturally indeterminate. Immediately after the subsequent cognition, the individual cognition arises, which is to determine "this is what" and "this is how it is," which is itself naturally indeterminate. Because that person has determined that form. Immediately after that, the six great perceptions of the unattractive sign arise. The six great perceptions of the unattractive sign

Therefore, by making that form free from attachment, that person, while being free from attachment, will give rise to the obscuration of not possessing the sense faculty of the eye. The sixth great (referring to consciousness) also possesses obscuration and non-obscuration in the same way. When that person immediately sees that form itself or a form similar to it from the sixth great, because the sixth great of the earth deity (referring to the steadfast earth deity) is pure, therefore, the consciousness of the eye will become pure, no longer defiled by afflictions, and will possess discipline. Then, the immediately following subsequent thought will not arise, because the form is definite. The separate thought will arise, because it merely awakens the memory of "this form is this," it is not defiled by afflictions, and possesses discipline. After that person's separate thought, the sixth great also becomes pure, no longer defiled by afflictions, and becomes disciplined. Like this, like before, again and again, for a long time, the wheel of consciousness continues to turn until the wheel is broken. Similarly, for non-hatred, non-ignorance, and detachment from desire, it should also be applied in this way. Similarly, it should also be applied to the indeterminate. It is also said: "The wheels of the five bonds, due to the purity and impurity of the lands, the purity and impurity arising from the sixth great, are obscured and unobscured by form." The five causes of destruction of the three kinds of operation of the wheel of non-virtue, virtue, and the indeterminate are: the abandonment of the aspect, the abandonment of the object, the decrease of grasping, the increase of grasping, and the progression from the sixth great to the sixth great. Among them, abandoning the aspect is through contemplating ugliness and contemplating impermanence. Abandoning the object is through contemplating the body of a woman and contemplating the body of a man. Decreasing grasping is through contemplating many and contemplating few. Increasing grasping is through contemplating small and contemplating large. When the wheel is in operation, contemplating ugliness through the sixth great, and then immediately the sixth great arises, is the progression from the sixth great to the sixth great. Similarly, it is also the same for the destruction of the wheel. Again, from seeing that form itself, the indeterminate eye consciousness of self-nature will arise. Among them, the abandonment of the aspect and the progression of the sixth great only exist in the sixth great. For the five, such as the consciousness of the eye
