Endowed with the Ten Powers, Glorious Spiritual Friend. In Sanskrit: Saṃskṛta Asaṃskṛta-viniścaya-nāma. In Tibetan: Titled "Discernment of the Conditioned and the Unconditioned." Homage to the Buddha! Those dharmas with elaboration, the glorious self-nature, all-knowing, as such spoken to sentient beings, I bow to that all-knowing one. Dharma is conditioned and unconditioned, briefly spoken by the Sage, the discernment of those, is spoken for the sake of remembering the self-nature. Dharma, briefly stated, is only of two kinds, namely, the conditioned and the unconditioned. Among these, the conditioned is impermanent. The unconditioned is permanent. Furthermore, the conditioned is the conventional truth. The unconditioned is the ultimate truth. Furthermore, the conditioned is dependent arising. The unconditioned is not dependent arising. Furthermore, the conditioned is with a superior. The unconditioned is without a superior. Furthermore, the conditioned is worldly and beyond worldly. The unconditioned is only beyond worldly. Furthermore, the conditioned is with form and without form. The unconditioned is only without form. Furthermore, the conditioned is with defilements and without defilements. The unconditioned is only without defilements. Furthermore, the conditioned is with afflictions and without afflictions. The unconditioned is only without afflictions. Furthermore, the conditioned is completely defiled and purified. The unconditioned is only purified. Furthermore, the conditioned is to be abandoned and to be adopted. The unconditioned is only to be adopted. Furthermore, the conditioned is to be relied upon and not to be relied upon. The unconditioned is only not to be relied upon. Furthermore, the conditioned is virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. The unconditioned is only virtuous and neutral. Among these, virtue is only one, namely, the cessation through individual examination. Neutrality is of two kinds, namely, space and non-individual examination. Belongs to the category of the realm of form and the category of the formless realm. The unconditioned belongs only to the category of the unpolluted realm. Furthermore, conditioned phenomena are the truth of suffering, the truth of origin, and the truth of the path. The unconditioned is only the truth of cessation. Furthermore, conditioned phenomena are obtained by suffering, obtained by origin, obtained by cessation, obtained by the path, and are to be abandoned by cultivation. The unconditioned is only that which is not to be abandoned. Furthermore, conditioned phenomena are completely included by the aggregate of form, completely included by the aggregate of feeling, completely included by the aggregate of perception, completely included by the aggregate of formations, and completely included by the aggregate of consciousness. The unconditioned is only that which is not included by aggregates. Furthermore, conditioned phenomena are completely included by the eye sense base, completely included by the ear sense base, completely included by the nose sense base, completely included by the tongue sense base, completely included by the body sense base, completely included by the mind sense base, completely included by the form sense base, completely included by the sound sense base, completely included by the smell sense base, completely included by the taste sense base, completely included by the touch sense base, and completely included by the dharma sense base. The unconditioned is only completely included by the dharma sense base. Furthermore, conditioned phenomena are completely included from the eye element up to the mind element, from the eye consciousness element up to the mind consciousness element, and from the form element up to the dharma element. The unconditioned is only completely included by the dharma element. Among these, the phenomena that will be explained in the scriptures, which are completely included by the truth of cessation, and space are unconditioned phenomena. All other phenomena are conditioned. Thus it is said: Space and cessation, these three are constant and unconditioned.
