There are five types, namely: In the desire realm, the obstructions of suffering, the obstructions of origin, the obstructions of cessation, the obstructions of the path, and those to be abandoned by cultivation. These are five eights, totaling forty. Similarly, in the form realm, there are also five eights, totaling forty. Similarly, in the formless realm, there are forty. Three forties total one hundred and twenty. Shamelessness, excessive pride, and non-expression: In the desire realm, each of these has five, so three fives are fifteen. Similarly, in the form realm, there are fifteen. In the formless realm, there are none. Dullness, languor, restlessness, sleep, jealousy, regret, stinginess, intolerance, and resentment: these nine are unique to the desire realm. Similarly, divided into five categories, nine fives are forty-five. Satiety from food is also only to be abandoned by cultivation in the desire realm. Non-latent factors have one hundred and ninety-six distinctions between realms and what is to be abandoned. It is also said: Disbelief, shamelessness, deceit, deception, restlessness, non-examination, negligence, and arrogance, these five types arise in the three realms. Non-expression, shamelessness, and excessive pride have five types in the desire and form realms. Stinginess, intolerance, regret, dullness, restlessness, resentment, jealousy, sleep, and languor, these five arise in the desire realm. Satiety from food is to be abandoned by cultivation. Furthermore, those that are not truly latent have three types, namely: all-pervasive great, all-pervasive small, and small ground. Among these, the all-pervasive great has seven types, namely: disbelief, shamelessness, deceit, deception, non-examination, restlessness, and negligence. The all-pervasive small has six types, namely: sleep, languor, laziness, excessive pride, dullness, and shamelessness. The small ground has eight types, namely: intolerance, resentment, jealousy, regret, arrogance, stinginess, non-expression, and satiety from food. Furthermore, from what is to be abandoned, there are five types: all-pervasive.

The great place, and like the great all-pervading place, the small all-pervading place, equal to the small all-pervading place, and the small ground. Among these, the great all-pervading place is: six sets of seven, that is, those who are ultimately unrestrained, such as disbelief, are included in desire. The seven to be abandoned by seeing suffering, the seven to be abandoned by seeing the origin, the seven to be abandoned by seeing suffering included in form, the seven to be abandoned by seeing the origin, the seven to be abandoned by seeing suffering included in the formless, and the seven to be abandoned by seeing the origin, are the great all-pervading place. These themselves are the obstacles to cessation and the obstacles to the path in the three realms, which are six sets of seven, like the great all-pervading place. The six, such as sleep, are the small all-pervading place, which are the obstacles to suffering and the obstacles to the origin. This itself is the obstacle to cessation and the obstacle to the path, which is equal to the small all-pervading place. The eight to be abandoned by meditation, such as intolerance, the seven to be abandoned by meditation, such as disbelief, and the six, such as sleep, are the small ground. Among these names of latent tendencies, those that are the great all-pervading place are directly, and those that are the small all-pervading place depend on others, such as object-attachment, and create obstacles to the truth through the gate of obstacles. Among these, the ten gates of obstacles to the truth are as follows: The four gates of obstacles to the truth of suffering are: the gate of slandering impermanence, the gate of slandering selflessness, the gate of slandering knowability, and the gate of slandering indeterminacy. The four gates of obstacles to the truth of origin are: the gate of speaking slander about the cause, the gate of speaking slander about karma as self-made, the gate of speaking slander about all afflictions, and the gate of speaking slander about purification. The one gate of obstacles to the truth of cessation is: the gate of speaking slander about permanence. The one gate of obstacles to the truth of the path is: the gate of speaking slander about definite liberation. All five of the eye consciousness and so on are afflictions.

It does not possess, nor is it produced. However, by possessing simultaneous feelings and so on, it becomes capable of producing and possessing. When any sense faculty and consciousness arise together, the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing the truth, by refuting, become the immediate cause of it, that consciousness is what is to be abandoned by seeing and cultivating the truth. Individual actions also transform in the way that whatever is to be abandoned is refuted. The purity or impurity of eye consciousness and so on comes from the assembly of wheels, that is, the great sixth. Because this great sixth has become the four elements. Therefore, form-possessing things such as the eye faculty also depend on the great sixth and become hidden or not hidden. How the assembly with wheels transforms should also be explained in that way. It is also like that, when a person who wants to be attached by desire sees form with the eye, the eye consciousness arising from its first manifest assembly becomes of unspecified nature. Immediately after that person's eye consciousness, a consciousness called subsequent action arises. This is what, what is it like, thus grasping, its nature is unspecified. Immediately after that, a consciousness of individual action arises, this is called this, thus determining, its nature is unspecified. Because individual action determines that form, immediately after that, a consciousness called the great sixth, or another name called mind consciousness, a consciousness that grasps the aspect of unpleasantness arises. That person, being attached to that form by that great sixth, together with that affliction called desire, the eye faculty not hidden, not possessing, will arise. The great sixth is not hidden, similarly possessing and not fully possessing. That person's great sixth, immediately after that, from seeing that form itself or seeing something similar to that, because the place of the great sixth is refuted, eye consciousness will become afflicted. And non-restraint.
