And will be endowed with the correct understanding of suffering and nirvana. When he knows and sees thus, he will thoroughly abandon the three universal defilements, namely: the view of the perishable collection, doubt, and the adherence to precepts and vows. And the afflictions that accompany it. Among them, the view of the perishable collection is: here, an ordinary person without learning regards form as self, or that the self possesses form, or that the self is in form. Similarly, regarding feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness as self, or that the self possesses consciousness, or that I have consciousness, or that consciousness is in the self, this is called the view of the perishable collection. He will abandon it. Having abandoned it, the sixty-two views related to the view of the perishable collection will also be abandoned. Doubting suffering, the origin, cessation, path, Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, the past extreme, the future extreme, or the Dharma that arises from this cause, that is, being uncertain, this is called doubt, and this will also be abandoned. The adherence to precepts and vows themselves, such as: becoming greedy and deluded. Therefore, I will become any other god through precepts, asceticism, or brahmacharya, this is called the adherence to precepts and vows associated with greed. Apart from this, the purification of precepts, the purification of asceticism, or the purification of precepts and asceticism, as said by the Shramanas or Brahmins, this is the adherence to precepts and vows. This will also be abandoned. The attachment, hatred, and ignorance that will lead to bad destinies are called the afflictions that accompany it. This will also be abandoned. Therefore, this is specifically entered into in order to realize the fruit of stream-entry, but it does not thereby become a stream-enterer.

No. Or, it is the place of entering, the eighth ground, the seeing, the determined ground, or it is the wisdom that is capable of both, or it is the path of entering, these are all different names. After entering the path, one does not possess the same Dharma as the path, but rather focuses on the unconditioned Dharma, and the wisdom of attaining the fruit will arise. Because the fruit is two or three consciousnesses entering without interruption, and the three bonds are cut off. Then, without interruption, one is reborn into the limb of existence. Rising from the limb of existence, one separately observes the path. One separately observes the fruit. One separately observes Nirvana. One separately observes the abandoned afflictions. One separately observes the remaining afflictions. Therefore, it is called the one who has entered. Possessing the Dharma of not falling into evil destinies, one is sure to go towards perfect Bodhi, obtaining the fruit of having realization, being the heart-son of the Bhagavan, born from the mouth, born from the Dharma, being the embodiment of the Dharma, having the right to receive the share of the Dharma, not having the right to receive the share of wealth, therefore it is also called having complete view. It is also correctly entering the ground of seeing. It is also understanding this Dharma and seeing the Dharma, and correctly possessing the wisdom of a learner. It is also correctly possessing the intelligence of a learner. It is also correctly entering the tradition of the Dharma, being a noble one, a determiner, wisdom, the gate of nectar, completely accomplishing and abiding. Therefore, it should be said: In order to become a king on earth for oneself, or in order to go to a good destiny for oneself, or in order to become the master of all the world, the fruit of the one who has entered is supreme. Thus abiding in that place, in order to realize the fruit of once-returner, one realizes it in the superior class. First, observing arising and ceasing, one observes in the way that is taught. How does one see the power of the roots? Correctly holding the limbs of enlightenment, similarly practicing the path of realizing the truth. Thus, the desire of the one who has entered is coarse.

Will abandon desire and hatred, and the afflictions associated with them. Immediately after the path, the fruit of once-returner is realized. Abiding in that place, in order to realize the fruit of non-returner, one diligently cultivates in the higher realms. First, one observes arising and ceasing, and observes as taught. How, with the faculty, power, and limbs of enlightenment of right view, does one cultivate the paths of realizing truth in that way. One will abandon desire and hatred associated with subtle desire, and the afflictions that dwell with them. Then, immediately after that path, the fruit of non-returner is realized. Abiding in that place, in order to realize the fruit of Arhat, one diligently cultivates in the higher realms. First, one observes arising and ceasing, and observes properly as taught. How, with the faculty, power, and limbs of enlightenment of right view, does one cultivate the realization of truth in that way. Thus, in order to enter the path, one abandons desire for the form realm, desire for the formless realm, pride, excitement, ignorance, and the remaining afflictions, abandoning them without remainder. Then, immediately after that path, the state of Arhat is realized. One individually understands that path. One individually understands the afflictions abandoned in the fruit and nirvana.
