The foot of miraculous power of desire, the limb of right effort towards enlightenment, the limb of perfectly cultivated right enlightenment, and the four right abandonments belong to right exertion. The faculty of mindfulness, the power of mindfulness, the limb of mindfulness towards enlightenment, and the four establishments of mindfulness belong to right mindfulness. The faculty of concentration, the power of concentration, the foot of miraculous power of mind, the faculty of faith, the power of faith, the limb of concentration towards enlightenment, the limb of joy towards enlightenment, and the limb of equanimity towards enlightenment belong to right concentration. Thus, within the eight limbs of the Noble Path, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are included. This is said to be the Noble Truth of the Path that leads to the cessation of suffering. These are the four Noble Truths. Here it is said: The Noble Truths are four, not three, not five. Why? To this it should be said: There are four results and causes, worldly and transcendent. That is: Suffering is the worldly result. Origin is the worldly cause. Cessation is the transcendent result. The Path is the transcendent cause. Therefore, there are four. Or, because there are four things to be fully known, to be abandoned, to be realized, and to be cultivated, therefore there are four truths. Furthermore, these four Noble Truths should be individually known through eleven aspects. These are: the meaning of the words, the characteristics, the order, the summary, the example, the distinctions, the compilation, the oneness, the manifoldness, the gradual teaching of enlightenment, and the collection. Among these, the meaning of the words is that the number four is completely definite. The Noble Truth is so called because it is the truth taught by the Noble Ones, or because one becomes noble by realizing them. Likewise, in terms of suchness, it is the Noble Truth because it does not deceive by the nature of suchness itself. Suffering is so called because of the meaning of tormenting.

English
The meaning of "kun 'byung" is to produce. The meaning of "'gog pa" is to subsequently prevent. The meaning of "lam" is to become accustomed to the sacred meaning. The characteristics are that suffering is the characteristic of fault, kun 'byung is the characteristic of cause, 'gog pa is the characteristic of non-arising, and lam is the characteristic of method. Alternatively, suffering is the characteristic of torment, the characteristic of universal burning, the characteristic of being compounded, and the characteristic of complete change. Kun 'byung is the characteristic of throwing, the characteristic of four, the characteristic of universal gathering, and the characteristic of complete accumulation. 'Gog pa is the characteristic of definite emergence, the characteristic of solitude, the characteristic of being uncompounded, and the characteristic of immortality. Lam is the characteristic of definite production, the characteristic of correct attainment, the characteristic of seeing, and the characteristic of the supreme master. The determination of the order is due to the meaning of grossness and the meaning of conditionality, so first suffering is shown. This produces suffering, so the second shows kun 'byung. This kun 'byung ceases, so this suffering ceases, so the third shows the truth of cessation. This is the method of stopping kun 'byung, so the fourth shows the truth of the path. For example, a skilled doctor first understands the disease. Then he completely seeks the cause of the disease, and then shows the medicine that corresponds to the cure of the disease. In the same way, as the disease is, so is suffering. As the root of the disease is, so is kun 'byung. As the disease is cured, so is 'gog pa. As the medicine is, so should the path be viewed. In short, entering is suffering. That which causes entering is kun 'byung. Returning is 'gog pa. That which causes returning is the path. The object of affliction is suffering. Affliction is kun 'byung. Abandoning affliction is 'gog pa. The method of abandoning affliction is the path. The distinct establishment of suffering is the door to correctly destroying the view of the aggregates. The distinct establishment of kun 'byung is the door to correctly destroying the view of annihilation. The distinct establishment of 'gog pa is suffering.
