The six contacts are: the contact arising from the convergence of the eye, up to the contact arising from the convergence of the mind. There are three aspects of faith: namely, the faith of firmly believing in the two truths, the four truths, the three jewels, and karma and its results; the aspect of faith of deeply trusting those who possess these qualities; and the aspect of faith of aspiring, "I am capable of demonstrating and attaining these teachings." There are two types of pliancy: namely, physical pliancy and mental pliancy. There are also two types of non-pliancy: namely, physical non-pliancy and mental non-pliancy. There are three types of equanimity: namely, the equanimity of separate observation that follows the wisdom of the Arhats, and the equanimity of non-separate observation that follows the knowledge of ordinary beings. There are three roots of virtue: namely, non-attachment is a root of virtue, non-hatred is a root of virtue, and non-ignorance is a root of virtue.

Having abandoned wisdom, some say that these are the three roots of the unpredicted. The nine pervasive bonds are as follows: the pervasive bond of subsequent arising, the pervasive bond of anger, the pervasive bond of pride, the pervasive bond of ignorance, the pervasive bond of views, the pervasive bond of holding as supreme, the pervasive bond of doubt, the pervasive bond of jealousy, and the pervasive bond of miserliness. Among these, there are three pervasive bonds of views, namely: the view of the aggregates, the view of holding to extremes, and wrong views. There are two pervasive bonds of holding as supreme, namely: holding views as supreme, and holding precepts and asceticism as supreme. Furthermore, there are two pervasive bonds, namely: the pervasive bond that corresponds to the lower division, and the pervasive bond that corresponds to the higher division. Among these, there are five aspects of the pervasive bond that corresponds to the lower division, namely: desire for desire, harmful thoughts, the view of the aggregates, holding precepts and asceticism as supreme, and doubt. There are five pervasive bonds that correspond to the higher division, namely: attachment to form, attachment to the formless, excitement, pride, and ignorance. Therefore, when each affliction fully arises, it will perform ten actions. Namely: making the root firm, establishing the continuum, perfecting the field, determining the similar cause, accomplishing the existence of karma, completely taking on one's own burden, being deluded about the object, causing the consciousness to flow continuously, completely transcending the side of virtue, and increasing the bondage that does not transcend the realm. There are three bondages, namely: the bondage of desire, the bondage of hatred, and the bondage of delusion. There are six latent tendencies, namely: the latent tendency of desire, the latent tendency of anger, the latent tendency of pride, the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of views, and the latent tendency of doubt. Among these, desire is divided into two types: desire for desire and desire for existence.

Thus, there are seven kinds of latent tendencies. Furthermore, dividing the latent tendencies of views into five types, there are ten latent tendencies. Namely: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, view of the aggregates as self, extreme views, wrong views, holding views as supreme, holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, and doubt. Among these, there are seven types of pride latent tendencies, namely: pride, excessive pride, pride beyond pride, the pride of thinking 'I am,' manifest pride, wrong pride, and the pride of thinking 'I am insignificant.' There are three types of ignorance latent tendencies, namely: not knowing, wrong knowing, and doubtful knowing. These ten latent tendencies have two aspects: distinct by division of realms and distinct by division of types. Among these, distinct by division of realms has three types, namely: the ten included in the desire realm, the nine included in the form realm excluding anger, and similarly, the nine included in the formless realm, thus becoming twenty-eight latent tendencies. Distinct by division of types has five types, namely: included by suffering, included by origin, included by cessation, included by the path, and to be abandoned by cultivation. Among these, in the desire realm, there are ten obtained by suffering, namely: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, view of the aggregates as self, extreme views, wrong views, holding views as supreme, holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme, and doubt. Similarly, in the form realm, excluding anger, there are nine obtained by suffering. Similarly, in the formless realm, excluding anger, there are nine obtained by suffering. Thus, the latent tendencies obtained by suffering in the three realms become twenty-eight. In the desire realm, there are seven obtained by origin, namely: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, wrong views, holding views as supreme, and doubt. Similarly, in the form realm, excluding anger, there are six, and similarly
