What. There are three types of meditation: namely, meditation that accomplishes manifest qualities, meditation that accomplishes the benefit of sentient beings, and meditation that accomplishes the happiness that is the antidote to afflictions. The perfection of meditation is ultimate. There are three types of wisdom: namely, focusing on conventional truth, focusing on ultimate truth, and focusing on the benefit of sentient beings. Again, there are two types of wisdom: namely, the nature of the cause and the essence of the result. Among them, there are two aspects to the nature of the cause: namely, engaging in faith and thoroughly entering into the ground. Among them, the first has three aspects: namely, the wisdom of the nature of listening, the wisdom of the nature of thinking, and the wisdom of the nature of meditation. Among them, the wisdom of the nature of meditation has three distinctions: namely, the essence of calm abiding, the nature of insight, and the essence of calm abiding and insight. That which has become the result is endowed with all kinds of excellence. The noble sthavira makes the distinction of wisdom by means of nine questions and nine answers. Among them, the nine questions are as follows: What is wisdom? What is the characteristic of wisdom? What is its taste? What is its near abiding? What is the place of attainment of this wisdom? What is the benefit of wisdom? What is the meaning of wisdom? What is the near support for obtaining wisdom? How many distinctions of wisdom are there? The path is like this: saying what is wisdom, seeing the object of the mind as it is seen, this is called wisdom. Or, by attending to what is beneficial and not beneficial, by acting in many ways with the object of the mind, this is called wisdom. Thus, there are also three in the Abhidharma. There it is said, what is wisdom? It is expressed by thirty terms without one, namely, what is wisdom. Knowing well, distinguishing, distinguishing well, distinguishing dharmas, truly representing, nearly representing, individually truly nearly representing, knowledge, wise, ultimate, individually related, mind nearly completely understanding, great, mind tamed, well guiding, individually seeing, truly knowing.
