It is said, "Thus it is," and so on. "Thus it is" refers to the yogi who has attained enlightenment. Because there is no imputed or dependent nature, there is no obstruction, which means there is no attachment. Because there is no conceptualization, there is no clothing. Because there is no bright object, it is not that attachment exists. Because there is no firewood of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, there is no smoke rising and no burning, that is its meaning. Because there is no burning, the yogi sees peace as attainment by making the firewood of afflictions into himself. The word "attainment" applies to everything. Because one abides in supreme peace, it is near quiescence. Because one has completely abandoned afflictions along with their imprints from the Hearers and so on, it is extremely peaceful, it is utter quiescence. Because there is no suffering following others, it is coolness. Because one's own continuum is not burned, it is freedom from suffering. Because one is free from all diseases, it is said to be without sickness. Because one is free from the faults of dust, it is without dust. Because it is without dust, it is pure. Because one has abandoned duality, it is non-dual. Because one does not think of harming anyone, it is harmless. Because there is no saying "mine," it is without "mine." Because one has completely abandoned self-grasping, it is without self-grasping. Precisely because of that, one has completely crossed the ocean of existence. The meaning is that whatever is "I" and "mine" is the cause of abiding in samsara. Because there is no birth and so on, there is no old age and lord of death. Experiencing the state of nectar, attaining the state of non-duality, that is its meaning. That principle is the attainment of the non-dual path of emptiness. The meaning is that no other object to be attained is perceived. Now, in order to show the attainment of non-abiding nirvana, it is said, "In samsara," and so on. A bodhisattva does not hold onto the hatred and desire produced by samsara and happiness and suffering that have arisen from the five aggregates of appropriation and have been transformed; he does not grasp. Because he practices equanimity towards all hatred and desire. It will be taught thus: if disgust arises for the suffering of samsara, one will quickly turn towards nirvana. If one becomes attached to the pleasure of afflictions, one will completely turn towards samsara.

Therefore, one should adopt an attitude of equanimity towards these. This is the meaning of acting in non-abiding nirvana. In order to clarify this meaning, "with attachment" and so on are mentioned. "With attachment" refers to having attachment to all beings. If one sees happiness, suffering, samsara, and nirvana as the same, then attachment and hatred will be destroyed, and exhaustion will be attained. If one sees emptiness, there is no attachment, because attachment is abandoned, so it is eternally indestructible. Therefore, indestructibility means attaining the state of not being changed by the two accumulations that have been accumulated for a long time. Because one abides in an unchanging state, having abandoned the proliferation of habitual tendencies of sound and language, it is called unchanging. In order to clearly explain non-abiding nirvana, "indestructible" and so on are mentioned. When a yogi attains the state of indestructibility, he will not abide in any of samsara or nirvana. Why does he not abide? "Attaining power" and so on are mentioned. Because during the time of abiding in samsara, he has abandoned the habitual tendencies that obscure power, he has attained power, become the all-pervading lord, and is able to transform freely, therefore he does not abide. Now, in order to explain the benefits of a Bodhisattva, "that power" and so on are mentioned. Because he has attained power, he is that power. Because he is able to subdue body, speech, and mind, he is the subduer. In order to guide the beings of the three vehicles, he is the teacher. Because he holds the means of subduing, he is the actor. Because he has reached the place where he should go, he is the Tathagata.

Thus, hearing is the cause of hearing the meaning of Prajñāpāramitā, the cause of relying on a good spiritual friend, and the cause of the power of the Bodhisattva lineage. What makes it burn again? For the sake of accomplishing the meaning of oneself and others, with the state of making diligence burn, with these causes, explaining emptiness to them will lead to entering into hearing. Likewise, saying "always diligent" and so on, is to explain the non-dual emptiness, and to be always diligent in listening and thinking, that is, at all times. Likewise, it means to take union with meditating on emptiness. Entering this path, those yogis who enter the Mahayana path will not take long, all the dharmas, the examined ones, will realize the meaning of selflessness at that time. Now, in order to show the difference between meditation arising from hearing and thinking, "dharma" and so on are said, dharma is the nature of the path, hearing and thinking, if not meditated upon, will not attain the nature of dharma, and will not become the cause of attaining non-dual emptiness, that is the meaning. In order to show the metaphor of this, "water is" and so on are said, water is flowing. By hearing and seeing, if not drunk, that is, not given, how to quench thirst, that is the meaning. Now, in order to show the order of how yogis meditate, "abiding in discipline" and so on are said, abiding in discipline for the sake of perfecting discipline. Hearing the holy Dharma means having hearing. Having attained transcendental wisdom means having wisdom. Because of doing the things that accumulate merit, the accumulation of merit is truly accumulated. The objects, such as form, are regarded as poison. Likewise, because of doing what should be done, there is no attachment to body and life, that is, the meaning of abandoning desire. It is also said: "Not rejoicing in anything, not rejoicing in life." Now, in order to show where, for whom, and how to meditate by truly familiarizing oneself, "at home or" and so on are said, first is the beginning.
