between. Others see it as easy. Similarly, the term "preta" is mentioned. Here too, due to various karmas, even a single river can appear as pus. Similarly, if the river is filled with the filth of feces and urine, the preta will see the river filled with the filth mixed with feces and urine. Similarly, for the same river, humans see the river as clear and also drink from it. This is the meaning. If all these are external things, then there will be contradictions. Therefore, the phrase "non-virtue is virtue" and so on is mentioned. Because the forms of the fruits of non-virtue and virtue are influenced by the imprints of karma, and because they are influenced by that karma, if external empty things enter into this discriminating consciousness, then there will be no contradictions for all these. If asked, how does one discriminating consciousness appear as many? The phrase "Emaho, the realm is diverse" is mentioned. Emaho means wonderful. This discriminating consciousness, the form of the realm itself is diverse, it is different. At the same time, it is many, it follows the various conceptualizations. How is it? The phrase "like musical instruments" and so on is mentioned. Just like the sound of a musical ensemble, the sound of a musical ensemble follows various conceptualizations due to the differences of slow and strong, etc., the discriminating consciousness is also the same meaning. Now, it is shown in three verses that it is not reasonable to think that meaningless things can function. The phrase "If things have a function" and so on is mentioned. If external things can perform the function of things, and if it does not become like that without it, then your argument may be valid. Because external empty things appear to be able to function. What is that like? The phrase "others" and so on is mentioned. When other people eat apples, such as Nepali apples, another person will drool, covered with moisture. If things can perform the function of things, then those who eat Nepali apples themselves should perform the function of drooling, but it is unreasonable for things to perform the function of others by others. Therefore,

Because it is capable of acting, it is not non-acting, that is its meaning. Similarly, mentioning "night" and so on, if someone is eating porridge and someone else asks him, "What are you eating?" If he answers, "I am eating an apple," or "A Nepalese apple," then wouldn't the listener experience a change due to moisture? Therefore, it is not acting. Similarly, mentioning "dream" and so on, there is no cause for obtaining happiness in a dream, even without meeting a woman of desire, wouldn't there be seminal emission? Therefore, having an effect does not prove that it is meaningful. To show the pride that exists in a dream, mentioning "dream" and so on, if someone believes that what is seen in a dream is real, it is due to the power of habit, that is, the power of the habitual imprints of the past, those existing things can be eliminated by this example. For example, a young pregnant woman giving birth to a child, seeing it like this in a dream is not logical, because it is not logically related. Similarly, the content of the dream itself is meaningful. Otherwise, she would not become a young woman, nor would she see a child. To clarify this point, mentioning "inside the house" and so on, this example also shows that what is seen in a dream is meaningless. For example, inside the house, it is inside the house, a long time, roads and mountains, similarly, various places also appear simultaneously in different forms, the respective things appear in the dream, at that time what is seen in the dream is meaningless. Like this, after negating external forms and so on, in order to negate that other consciousness is also an object, mentioning "consciousness is also consciousness." Consciousness is not something other than consciousness, it is not an object. If someone thinks it is, then its consequence will inevitably be simultaneity. If it is thought to be a single continuum, then one will inevitably attain a coarse state. "Inevitably" means conceptual thought. Like a coarse thing.
