Because that and virtuous and non-virtuous actions are unrelated. Furthermore, where does the karmic imprint reside? It is stated, "The karmic imprint resides in the mind," meaning the imprint resides in the mind. If it resides in the mind, then the elements present in another life are not the cause of that birth, because there is an interval. It is said that wherever the imprint resides, it definitely produces the result. Planting seeds in a field does not produce fruit on a mountaintop. Therefore, by the power of the imprint, it is only the consciousness that appears as the elements, appearing in front, and not an external object. Furthermore, the existence of the elements is realized through the object of perception, and the object of perception is also its appearance, because it arises from consciousness. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider that consciousness itself, composed of both, is a construct that has completely transformed into the appearance of the elements, but it is not reasonable to consider it an external object not composed of both. Now, to show the nature of the karmic imprint, it is stated, "Virtuous deeds," and so on. Virtuous deeds, in another life, with the nature of the karmic imprint, the consciousness is in a peaceful state, that is, the consciousness in the form of form, is born as a pleasing being. Similarly, by the same cause, attachment to the lives of others in a previous life results in being born as extremely frightening beings such as tigers, lions, bears, and snakes. Now, to show another reason for this, it is stated, "If," and so on. If the elements are not considered to be of the nature of consciousness, then since they are of the nature of inanimate matter, how can actions such as dancing, movements of the hands and feet, etc., be done by others? Now, to address and refute the doubts of others, it is stated, "Wind," and so on. If the elements arise from the wind and produce actions, then where does the wind come from? If it comes from effort, then where does effort come from? If it comes from desire, then you have definitely entered the path. Definitely, it is conceptualization. You have entered that path, which is the action of consciousness, not the action of wind. For what reason?

Because there is no desire apart from consciousness. Because it is its merit, it is impossible for it to arise from anything else. For the time being, let us set aside the examination of the causes of all that arises. They are constantly changing in nature, in order to meet the doubts of the Samkhya school. As it is said, "From the semen and blood of parents," etc., parents with different shapes and colors, etc., that is, the semen and blood related to both parents, from the semen and menstrual blood, arise beings with different characteristics of head and hands. If from seeds with different shapes and colors, how do trees and other things with different characteristics grow and multiply? Things of constant nature should not be completely transformed. In this way, what you acknowledge as the Great Lord, etc., should not be considered as completely transformed into the nature of the fruit. What is that? Is it that the whole self is transformed, or is it a part? If the whole self is transformed, then like the impermanence of the Great Lord, etc., Ishvara will also be transformed. If it is only a partial transformation, then again, why is it that the part that is transformed into a clear fruit is a non-acting cause, or is it different because it is made by a part and has a distinction of nature? Therefore, Ishvara is the actor, the non-actor, sleep is the actor, the non-actor, and is diverse. Because it is diverse, it is impermanent. The constant should not be diverse, because it would fall into the fault of different natures. If there is no proximate cause, sound will not arise, as it is said, "Sound comes from the mouth," etc., sound depends on the effort of human endeavor, it is the place and the actor, and the different causes such as the combination of lips and teeth act together. Because when things appear with and without, one can see the following and the opposing. In this way, they arise when they exist, and do not arise when they do not exist, therefore, if you deny the proximate cause, then, from the causelessness of the mouth and pottery drum, etc., sound will not arise. That's it.
