If one thinks that difference is only what causes difference, because different differences arise from different causes, then this thought is also unreasonable. For, if these differences are either entirely unexamined, or only the nature of being examined by the distinction of the opposite, then, if it is like the first alternative, then at that time, since there is no difference from the nature of the object, etc., it would follow that it is not many like them; or, the nature of the object, etc., also cannot be reduced to one like consciousness. Moreover, since consciousness is not different from the nature of cognition, it would follow that it does not arise from form like it; or, since it is not different from similarity, it would also be said to arise from form. Therefore, how can it not be contradictory that for one thing, arising and not arising at the same time are mutually contradictory? If one thinks that this fault will not occur, because these differences are only other things that have arisen from consciousness, then consciousness will become causeless, because it only connects with other things such as the eye. Therefore, it will follow that it is eternally existent, etc. However, if it is the side of being eternal, then at that time, consciousness will still become causeless, because it only acts on the eye, etc., with the nature of examination. Moreover, since there is no connection with the nature of examination, everything will fall into being causeless. The view that many arise from many is also not reasonable, because we see that from one lamp, etc., many results such as consciousness also arise, and it is also recognized that from many things such as the eye, one thing such as consciousness arises. Furthermore, if all results are produced by many causes, then, since each result arises from many causes, it itself will not cause the difference of causes to produce difference, which is similar to the previous fault. However, if only each result connects with only one cause, then it will be admitted that one arises from one, and moreover, there will be faults arising from that later, so this belongs to other aspects.

It is not said that way. The view that many arise from one in reality is also unreasonable, because, as before, it would follow that the difference of causes cannot make the difference. For example, if the difference of the eye itself produces a similar moment, then it also produces its own consciousness, then in this case, even if there is no different cause, but because of the different effect, how can it not become a case where there is no cause in the difference and non-difference of effects? Because there is no other difference of self-nature that can produce other effects. Because all things are without parts. Therefore, the cause does not produce the effect by changing its own nature, but, since the nature of the cause has no difference, the effect produced by it will also not be different. The view that one arises from one is also unreasonable, because it would lead to everything becoming blind and deaf things. For example, if when the senses such as the eye produce their own consciousness, they do not continuously produce other similar moments, then, in the second moment, it would lead to everything becoming blind, etc. The simultaneous view is also unreasonable, because before the effect arises, the cause is also non-existent, so like a rabbit's horn, it does not have the ability at all. When obtaining self-nature itself is the ability, then the effect also exists simultaneously with the cause, because it is already established, so it has no effect on it at all, therefore it should not be established as a cause, for example, like that which is considered an effect is not the cause itself. If it is not like this, then how can the things of cause and effect be separately established without confusion? The non-simultaneous view is also unreasonable, even if it is non-simultaneous, will the effect be earlier or later than the cause? For the time being, the first aspect is unreasonable, because that would become the view that the effect only arises from the future.
